Hey guys! Sorry for how gross this will sound.

I took Kona to the vet yesterday for shots and she was totally fine, but this morning she started having loose stools, which then turned into complete diarrhea. Nothing has changed in her routine to cause her anxiety, however, I did start upping her feedings a few days ago. Could this be the cause? I'm concerned because her stomach has gotten sick twice in the last hour (after she ate).

Thanks for any help!

She could be having a reaction to the vaccine.  Since she is throwing up and having diarrhea I would call the vet and ask them how to handle it.  Puppies can dehydrate very rapidly when they are losing fluids at both ends. If your vet's office is closed you might call the ER vets for advice.  Is she drinking water?

She's not throwing up - just having diarrhea. She is drinking water. I called the vet and am waiting on a call back. Thank you!!

When you say "upped her feedings", what do you mean? What is she eating, how much and how often? Any new treats?

Is she vomiting or just the diarrhea?

She was a little underweight so I started feeding her three times a day instead of two. She's eating Blue Buffalo, about a half a cup. No vomiting as of now.

Update - Her stomach just got sick again, this time it was all just liquid

Sounds like a reaction to the vaccines.

Just happened again. I talked to her vet and she told me to keep an eye out for vomiting or blood and if it is still happening in the morning, to bring her in for a stool sample. I'm very concerned because this is her 5th time today and I don't know what could be causing it!!

I'd cook up a batch of chicken and rice for her. Plain boiled white meat chicken cut up very small, and plain cooked white rice, 50/50 mixture. Feed that until her stools firm up again. Make sure she is drinking water.

Unless she somehow picked up a parasite in the last two weeks, this is most likely a reaction to the vaccines and should pass on its own in a day or so. Adding a third feeding wouldn't cause urgent liquid diarrhea. I hope she's better tomorrow.

Sounds very reasonable.

This sounds good. I've kept Kona very isolated as she isn't fully vaccinated, so I don't think she could've caught anything, unless she did at the vet yesterday when she was walking on their floors.

Trying not to worry too much. Thank you for your help!!

I'm glad you were able to talk with the vet.  Karen has good advice about feeding her chicken and rice, it's very gentle on an irritated tummy.

I hope she is feeling better by morning or sooner would be even better. Please let us know how she's doing.

Thank you so much!! I'll be sure to keep you updated.
