Owen and Kona have both been in the vet hospital for IV fluids twice this month for what appeared to be flu-like symptoms. This past week they both had a fever as well and had to get IV fluids for 24 hours. They came home with antibiotics. Kona seems just fine now. Owen showed a low blood platelet count. I don't know how low. (Kona did not have this symptom.)

The vet asked if he has had ticks. Neither has ever had a tick on them.

They checked for pancreatitis in Owen but that wasn't it. I asked the vet why this would be and she said it was very strange for such a young dog to have low platelets (3 years old). He came home last night, and we are taking him back tonight for another blood draw. He has been lethargic all day but is keeping his food and water down.

When I looked online for information it seemed the tick born disease and cancer were the most likely culprits.

Anyone have any other ideas? Thank you.

I have no idea what to expect for today but I am praising God that she was free from pain for 8 hours yesterday. She was afraid to go to bed and "waste" the time she had feeling well. We will see what today brings. Thanks for sharing our joy in this.

Such wonderful news, Bonnie. I'm glad you were able to share a fun evening in town. Hoping and praying her improvement continues.

hugs and doodlekisses to you and Tarabear.

Oh, I am continuing those prayers then.

Thank you, Nancy. That is an incomparable gift.
That's such good news. I am praying for only pain free for your DD and for the doodles to be healthy. XXX
Thank you so much, Nikki. I hope you feel much better soon too

We are going through something similar, but Groucho Too has cancer.  He had a spleenectomy on Nov. 24, and the biopsy came back that the spleen was cancerous.  The vet said he also had nodes on his liver.  We will see, but just enjoy the time we have with him now.  He seems fine and is playful and eating like a horse.  My DH says that it looks like he has a tapeworm rather than cancer.

I'm so sorry Lynda. I read about that on the main page. May each day be filled with peace for all of you.

Lynda, I hope Groucho Too has lots of good days left.

Bonnie HUGE HUGS to you and DD!!! So happy to hear she is on the healing path as well as Owen:)

Thank you so much, Carla.
