Hi all, Bernie's only 5 months old so we haven't run in to many problems yet (woohoo!) but just in the last week we've noticed his nose dripping a bit. It's clear, like water pretty much, but he's also been sneezing. I joke that he's allergic to my husband because it seems to be exacerbated when he's excited, like when my husband comes home from work.

I've read that dogs get allergies and such and we've had some usual weather in our area lately. Just want to make sure this is somewhat normal and there's no reason for us to get worried yet. Thanks!

The runny nose and sneezing are not common symptoms of allergies in dogs. They're more indicative of a cold or flu, which dogs do get. Bordatella can start out that way, too. Does Bernie go to doggy daycare?
If the runny nose & nasal symptoms continue, a visit to the vet would be a good idea.

Allergies in dogs most often manifest as itching and scratching, even pollen and other inhalant allergies.
Thanks for the heads up Karen, we'll keep a good eye on him. No daycare, just us. But we've had some abnormally cold weather for Tacoma lately, and lots of cold rain before that (and we still walked every day). Not sure if dogs catch colds the same way we do, but if they do, it would make sense.
Our dog has wicked allergies, but has never had the symptoms you have noticed with your pup. So, hopefully for you it's just a "nose cold" and not allergies.
Thanks so much, I was hoping it wasn't allergies. So sorry you guys go through it though =(
Mia has current Bordatella shots and has a runny nose most times, clear. On one occasion, she was sneezing and coughing frequently and we took her to the vet. There was no evidence of infection and we were advised to give her Benadryl until it cleared up. After a week of Benadryl, the sneezing and coughing cleared up. Allergies or cold? I don't know.
