I met this doctor ( Chiropractor & Certified Veterinary Chiropractitioner.) at the pet expo over this weekend. I have been thinking about chiropractic care for Charlie, since now I know her bone is healed.
But I wasn't really sure if that would make it worse, the level of benefit or what will it really do.
Even though I go to the human chiropractic doctor, and think it is beneficial, I was not sure for the animals.... Does anyone ever heard of this? Or used chiropractic care for your doodles?

May be I will check him out.....She is healed, but needs to build up her muscle. However, she became habit to sit in a funny way which I think will create some compensation / stress in the other part of her body, you know?....That is why I was thiking about it...
I know chiro can be beneficial for dogs (and horses), but I would try acupuncture through a DVM certified to do acupuncture (either traditional with needles or cold laser) and also consider cold laser treatments first. The cold laser treatments are similar to deep muscle massage for humans.
Also you might try supplements like fish oil, probiotics (as anti-inflammatories) and if joints are involved, a supplement like Dasuquin with MSM, Synovi-3 or Joint Max can be helpful as well.
My Connor has hip dysplasia in both hips and I have done a lot of research and used many different protocols in search of effective treatment.
I hope this helps.
This is helpful.. Thank you. The holistic vet who helped her through the hip injury does acupucture. I should ask her what she think of VOM and the acupuncture for Charlie. She gave Charlie Glyco-flex, and she is taking 1/2 pill per day. I can also give her fish oil. That is easy. I dont know why I didnt think of that...Thank you. When my beloved Chow Butter got really old, I used to squeeze out a capcell and squart it on to his food.
Oh, wow! What do they really do? Does the doctor really crack them like how the human chiropractors do us? What does dog do when he/she get cracked..?
JD's acupuncture vet also does chiropractic. It looks very different from human chiropractic, the adjustments are very small. I'm not sure if it helps or not, to be honest. He also gets the acupuncture, laser therapy, and anti-inflammatory meds, so hard to know what helps and what doesn't. I'm not a big believer in chiropractic for humans, I saw too many horror stories when I was working with human rehab clients.
Yikes. I go to the chiropractor every so often. But I think I like his massage therapist more than the doctor!!
I am going to call the holistic vet to see what she thinks of it.
I would only have it done by a vet, Kyoko. Let the holistic vet refer you to someone, if she doesn't do it herself.
