When to worry with puppy throw up

Just trying not to get myself too crazy, but at the same time don't want to miss any signs. Our Graycie threw up early morning some brown vomit (not coffee grounds looking)...very easy to clean and no odor. There was one small chunk -sorry tmi- that was not food, but looked more like string or a clump of dust/fabric/hair?? Could that be what shay made her sick? Brown fluid/vomit because her kibble is brown? She has acted completely typical all day, eating, drinking etc. I should mention she has an ear infection and taking an antibiotic and a pain killer. Maybe that's the cause??

Antibiotics can cause nausea, so that could certainly be the cause. Some of us give our dogs Pepcid shortly before giving an antibiotic to prevent that.  But early morning vomiting is often due to having an empty stomach for too many hours overnight. There are quite a few dogs here who will vomit bile in the early a.m. if they are not given a small snack in the evening about 30-60 minutes before bed. 

To me, the biggest concern in what you've described is the string/fabric/hair clump. If she did indeed ingest something non-edible, it would be my guess that that's what made her sick. The problem is that she may not have brought all of it up, and if there's something indigestible still sitting in the digestive tract, that's a big problem. I know it's a holiday weekend, but if it happens again, or if she shows any other signs like heavy drooling, inappetance, or lethargy, I'd get her to the vet.

Thank you! So far this morning went fine. Hoping tomorrow does as well. She's definitely been acting fine, and pottying the same as well. She's a little finicky about eating during her usual meal times, but eventually when I re-give her the bowl of food (about 45 min later) she eats most of her portion.
Maybe another antibiotic did effect ?
Treats she always seems to have rom for! Lol
