My youngest dog has a constant yeast infection in his paws, elbows, and some on his collar. He is a swimmer, starting at 6am for his morning swim and in and out all day long. Needless to say, I cannot keep him dry and I know that is the problem. He received a steroid shot that brought him relief for a month. He has some dermatology medicine called Resi KetoChlor too. My big problem is I cannot keep him out of the pool long enough to let the medicine work. I have microfiber cloths and he enjoys being dried off but it isn't dry enough. I put it on late at night but be needs it more often. Does anyone know about the effectiveness of neem oil? The vet also suggested athletes feet cream or spray I keep forgetting to try. Anyone else battle this and win?

Thanks for the quick responses! It has been wet, cold, and nasty out recently. We go to the vet next Saturday for his next check-up, and I'll bring it to their attention.
So no need in changing his food due to allergies?
Thank you all so much!

No changing food due to allergies. He hasn't been eating any one protein long enough to develop an allergy to it, and food allergies are actually relatively rare in dogs, despite what you read. Only 10% of all allergy symptoms in dogs are related to food of any kind anyway, and it typically takes a long exposure to a particular protein for antibodies to form.

If your pup's food contains corn, wheat, or is grain heavy, it would probably be a good idea to change it; but not to Rx garbage. Join the DK Food Group and we will help you!

Sometimes we have to stop them doing the things they love for the sake of their health. Right now Boris is on crate rest apart from three short walks a day and potty breaks. It's incredibly hard as his brother goes out for a long walk without him. I know this is hard but I see no choice, no swimming until this is completely gone.
