Anybody interested in listing who they use for a Groomer? This might help a new owner, or one that might be frustrated with who they have tried in the past.

I use Dapper Dog for my two, Debbie does a great job and pulls those nasty ear hairs too.

Great Idea Gina,
I had a great groomer but unfortunately she moved. Then trying to find one to do Mali just right is a fight. With still detailed instructions and pictures, they still make her more poodle like than doodle like. lol. I might give them a shot. Can you say how much they charge? Thanks Eva

Debbie charges $60 for Buddy who is probably about Malibu's size, and $40 for Kona. When we went on last years Wag a Tail Walk A Thon the owner of the store Susan and Debbie met me with their dogs. My two were all over Debbie with kisses and hugs, that's when I knew she would be my only groomer. For them to still want to love on someone that is yanking those ear hairs out every 3 months, I'll stick with forever :)

I'll have to try them in a few months. Tonight I just trimmed off malibu's poodle puffy buff looking legs and buttocks! What a sight that was. Do you recall if they buff or round out their toenails too? I know Petsmart does that but it's an extra 11 bucks. Have a good night, Eva

I am pretty sure she will dremel the nails if you ask her too. She is so accomodating, if I bring both dogs when I drop one off for grooming she will even pull the ear hair on the dog not gettting groomed that day just to stay on top of it, and she doesn't charge me!

Can you explain to me what you mean by "pulling the ear hairs"? I have been grooming my two myself for the last few months, and I know that I have to brush like heck to get the mats out, under the ears on Coco only...even after only a few days.. is that what you are talking about? Thanks, Dee

Hi Denice,

Some dogs have excessive hair inside their ears, I believe this is a poodle trait. Both of my dogs have lot's of hair in their ears and I have the groomer pull the hair when they go in for a groom every few months. If I don't have it pulled, they have more of a chance of ear infections because the air cannot circulate and moisture get's trapped in all that hair.

Sometimes when I am at one of our training sessions at Petsmart, I will just have one of the grooming girls pull hair in between our normal grooming sessions so there is not so much to pull all at one time.

Oh how I wish I had gone to your groomer! Next time I'll schedule an am groom and then maybe the dogs can play afterwards. Mickey lost his doodle face and now looks like a big white poodle!

Oh, I am sorry, yeah that has happened to me too. One time they shaved Buddy's ears, OMG, he looked soooo silly!!!
Tell them exactly what you want, or bring in a pic of how you liked him. They do a great job for me, and they are super nice. Even when I get mine clipped down for summer, I have them leave a fluffy head and tail, I can always trim those myself. It kinda evens out the LOOK to have both ends fluffy LOL
Play date sounds good for after, there is a park close and right next to the expressway.

I use Select Dog Grooming 7531 Torrey Pines Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89131. 283-4378 Nikki loves Judy! The cool thing about this grooming facility is it is also a Day Care. The dogs can go to day care while they are being groomed which Niiki loves. This facility is at Judy's house, but she has a shop in the back where she grooms the dogs. The dogs can run in and out of the shop while they play. They also have two large yards to play in. The dogs are all tried out at first to make sure no one is aggressive so everyone is very sociable. I really like this place it helped Nikki be less scared of dogs and people.

I took Toby to Zen Dog "Day Care-Grooming-Spa" on Blue Diamond/Decatur this week. The owner, Sarah, is very sweet. The groomer, Nikki must have a magic wand in her bag of tricks. She was able to get ALL of his deep mats/tangles out without having to shave him - and he wasn't stressed out at all when I picked him up. (He had some really bad ones on his hips and chest.) I was SOOOO impressed!!! I love the fact that they have a LIVE CAM for their doggie day care.
