Hi! We'll be picking up our new Log Cabin pup after the first of the year. She's a Whimsy pup. Born 11/02/13. Whimsy had two husbands. Oliver & Ranger. So hard to tell who her dad is. Anyone have a pup from either of these combo's? (See pics)
Hi! I have a Whimsy + Oliver pup. He's 8 months old now. I'll see if I can add a recent picture. How many did she have this time? She had 9 in our liter.
Ok think I added pics. First pic is of Chachi at 4 weeks.
Thanks! that is helpful. What great pics! Whimsy had 4 girls and 3 boys. Jayme is pretty sure that ours is an Oliver pup. I think if she were Rangers, maybe more red?
What got me started down this path is an introduction at my vets office this past July. We fell in love with a 4 month old redish puppy from Log Cabin. The owner was so nice and informative, and the rest is history...the vet was in Peabody, North East Vet hospital. I don't suppose it was you? If not, I'll bet it was from the same litter. I wish I got her name so I could thank her and tell her what she started.
This litter will be 8 weeks this Saturday, but there's a delay since they won't be fixed until next week, secondary to the holiday. I can hardly wait!
Nope not us, maybe it was Bentley u met? I'm happy with my guy. He does have some food allergies but other than that, he is healthy. We are having so much fun with him.
Good luck with everything.
Glad to hear it. I assume Chachi was on Fromm when you got him. How long before you discovered the allergies and how did it present may I ask? And Bentley, who this? A litter mate?
We love her to pieces! A little mischievous, of course, but very smart, very entertaining and adorable to top it off. She's 12.5 lbs at just about 9 months, and, so far, no major issues health wise. We do have insurance, which I recommend - based on our previous dog. Well worth it.
Good luck with your new pup. Lots of work, but lots of fun too :)
You know I've been struggling with that recently. Given theses pups come from healthy parents, but I suppose they are living beings just like the rest of us, anything can happen. I think if anything it's mental insurance for me. Knowing I don't have to make medical decisions based on $$(that nasty word). Thanks for the advise!
Well just for instance- we had one week, after a weekend at a great (I thought) dog park, that we ended up at the vet twice. She had a blast, running around like a nut, playing with other dogs. Then I noticed she was obsessively licking her paws. Turned out she had run her little feet raw on the smooth gravel. She needed a steroid spray and was fine in a couple of days.
Same week she started this horrible coughing. They called it tracheitis, but it was a mild form of kennel cough (which, of course, she had been vaccinated for). 7 days of antibiotics. Shes very social, so it's like a preschooler picking up every virus. She's also had two ear infections (you have to make sure their ears are dry after swimming or a bath - they're very susceptible to yeast infections in the ears. Suffice it to say that, even healthy pups incur medical expenses...
He was on Fromm. I'm not sure if he truly has allergies or if there is another reason for his continued scratching. He was scratching since we got him at 12 weeks ( he stayed for Charm school). But he had Los come with ear infection due to swimming. We are trying to eliminate foods to see if scratching lessens.
