Behaviorist/trainer

Does anyone know of a good, resonably priced behaviorist?  Tori has always been shall we say a bit hyper - when guests come over.  We have gotten her to calm done fairly quickly after visitors come, but she really has been wearing herself ragged when my son has friends over and they are outside.  She runs back and forth from window to window to door....  If they come inside, she usually is fine and will calm down, but as soon as they get up and walk around she barks at them (the friend) LOUDLY.  She does this too only with my 5 year old nephew.  She "herds" him all over the house.  Wherever he walks, she follows and barks at him.  One time he was crying b/c he happened to get hurt and when we picked him up to console him, Tori barked furiously until we put him down...we have tried everything, but nothing we do seems to curb this behavior.  We were thinking of getting a bark collar???  I DO have kids - but they are older 12 and almost 17 - I guess too big to herd.  And when someone comes to the door - the mailman, a solicitor, the oil guy... forget it.... She goes absolutely CRAZY!  (Other than this... she's great - lol) Thanks so much for your help!

I just saw that a new place open by the DSW in DixHills/Elwood area. It's by my mom's. Next time I am near there I will get you the phone number. They are a training place.

Hi Shelly -
Have you checked with Petco? When I was in there a while ago they had clipboards with Trainers & classes...you could try them to see if they have what you are looking for. The new one on 347 just opened up recently.
You could also ask your vet who they would recommend.

Thanks guys!!! Hope you're staying dry with ALL this RAIN!! Lori - We actually took Tori there for training. (The trainer lives in your neighborhood, Ali) Tori was like the kid in school who doesn't really read in class and the mom says "Well she reads great at home" LOL She was so afraid that she just sat there most of the time, but did everything great when we practiced at home. I blame myself for not socializing her earlier with other dogs (Hey - the mom's always to blame, anyway) ...I want to try and get someone to come to my house and see her in action. All they have to do is walk up to my door! LOL Tori's due for a vet visit next week. I will definitely ask him then too! Thanks and stay DRY!

The vet is using a new trainer now. I know the people that use to be there are expensive but they do come to your home. I think it was $200=$300. Who is the trainer by me?? Maybe call her again. I will check on the name of that place next time I am in ENPT. But if you are near there, it's across from DSW, in the Stride Rite shopping center. I will also ask the new groomer if she knows anyone, ask your girl. (notice I kept that appropriate!!) lol
and yeah annoying rain!!! Not digging the lake in my basement!

OH NO!!! do you have a flood??? I I just came across her card today...Her website is apetshelp.com her name is Grace.. don't know if she's a behaviorist or just a trainer though, but maybe I will call her...so much to do this week and I'm running out of days already...huh
