Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi All,
I am way overdue to groom Cody, who is a little over 8 mths now. He has a long beautiful apricot coat with blonde tips (but thinner, doesn't take much to get to his skin) & we don't want to drop him off & have him stuck in a cage for hours.,,and it's been cold (didn't want him to be cold at the run). His fleecy puppy coat is beginning to give way to a shorter slightly curlier/woolier coat, so his coat is uneven & unkempt looking.
I've been brushing & bathing him, trimming around his eyes & paw pads, but it is time!
Has anyone else seen this change in puppy to adult coat?
Any grooming suggestions? We want a long-ish cut that won't have him looking like a poodle. Any recommendations? Places, groomers you would recommend? Places groomers to avoid?
Thanks!
Elizabeth

thanks so much!
Hi,
I live in Lower Manhattan and have my labradoodle Paz groomed at LePet Spa; they are great. Paz's coat sounds exactly like Cody's. Paz had longish hair and at about 6 months it began to change and became curly. Paz is a therapy dog and I did not want him shaved or styled like a poodle. I was very clear with the groomers at Le Pet Spa that i wanted him groomed and only cut around the eyes and rear. Be aware that curly haired doodles tend to mat and require ongoing grooming and brushing. I've been thrilled with Le Pet Spa as they followed my instructions to the letter. If you want to use them, just let me know and I can tell the owner you are coming, so he could arrange to have the same groomers as Paz.. It's pricey but definitely worth it.
thanks so much! we're up on the UWS, so Le Pet Spa sounds like a bit of a trek. We are planning to train Cody to be a therapy dog, too, so we don't want a short, styled look. His coat is soft & part of the comfort & accessibility he offers. I may try a place up here, but if it doesn't work out, I may take him down to LePet Spa. They sound great.
