Thundershirt
This " Thundershirt" was introduced to me from Charlie's trainer. It is to reduce dog's fear and anxiety and looks similar to the concept of Temple Grandin's "Squeeze Machine". I am going to take a look at one, and may try it for Charlie. Does anyone have try it? If so, how do you like the result? How about the model of the shirt is a doodle!!!

I have not tried this one but have used a snug harness when we are out and about. She loves to feel all snuggy. I thought it would be hot in the summer to have a vest on............. but everyone who has used them says they work great. Starlit loves to wear her harness. -

What is Starlit's harness called? I am going to take a look at the actual thundershirt tomorrow. It says money back gerantee, so I can take it back if it doesn't help her....

Well, I don't know if it's just late,or I'm truly sold on what I just saw on the Thundershirt site..... I want so bad to try this.... it makes sense and besides those 2 shitzus remind me of 'someone' I know and love too much to let her go another season stressing out... hey, it's worth a try, right??? Think I'll keep a watchful eye here to see if anyone has any opinions on using it....Thanks Kyoko!

I just ordered a Thundershirt for Melody. After reading a lot about it and talking to a friend about it who was familiar with the idea, it sounded like a good bet. It should be here is a few days. I am excited to see if this helps. I like the guarantee.

Yes, I think you get a refund if the Thundershirt doesn't work out. I am excited about this, as the times Melody gets anxious just seem terrible for her. I really hope this does the trick. She is such a good dog, and the anxiety over noises and meeting new people just seem out of proportion. I will let you know!!!!

The Thundershirt is supposed to help with all kinds of anxiety. I wonder if I should order one for me when I have to speak in front of an audience! HA! The Thundershirt arrived a few minutes ago, and I have been reading more about it. It is supposed to help all types of anxiety. The pressure the shirt applies on the dog's torso has a calming effect on most dogs, it reports. I would imagine that would be true for people coming through the door. I am going to try it now.

I thought it would be made of spandex/neoprene type of fabric, so I was surprise to see that it is a regular jersey material. It has bunch of velcros on it, and wraps the dog like a sports wrap support band. I got size medium based by Charlie's weight. I tried it on her, however, it only comes to her mid chest. ( She is 42lb, She is skinny but long on her body..) So, I quickly took it of, so I can exchange for size L. But for the short period of the minute she had it on, she just went straight to the couch and lie down....
I told one of my client's ( Autistic) mom about it and discussed if under-armer type of squeezing shirt will be helpful for his anxiety or not! -
