Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone,

I just took my puppy for 16 week shot and weight. She weighs 10.5 lbs. How big will she get?

I was told you take the weight at 16 wks, double it and add 5 lbs for mini. I think you also need to look at the size of mom & dad. Again these are just estimates. When I researched the breed I visited a lot of breeder websites and found the size ranges varied somewhat on each site.
Nina,
I agree with Sandy B's formula. Buddy was 9 pounds at 16 weeks; at 7 months he is 16 pounds. Our vet said he would probably be around 20 pounds. He said that mini poodles are generally full grown at about 7 - 8 months, so a minidoodle's growth would slow down quite a bit at a that age, too.
Halas is a mini goldendoodle. I think he was about 12-13 lbs at 4 months. He's now 14 months and 23 - 24 lbs. He may fill out a little bit, but I think he's pretty close to full grown. He was 22 lbs at 7 months, so his growth really slowed down at that point.
Does anyone know if there is a difference for medium doodles or is it the same?
This should be helpful. http://www.goldendoodles.com/Health/growth_chart.htm

The guesstimate formula is: weight at 4 months X 2 + up to 10 pounds. I am assuming the "up to 10 lbs" might vary from a mini, medium, to standard.
Hard to say! My pup was 27 pounds at 7 months when i got her and weighed 36 at one year, so she was 3/4 of her weight at 7 months. She hasn't gained any weight since then.If i do a bit of math, that would put your pup at 28-30 pounds at maturity. My pup may not be a good judge though, because she has short legs and a stocky body--so it really is hard to know what their body type will be. You'll have to let us all know know how close we came when she hits a year old!
What a cutie! Max is a mini golden doodle, and was 10 pounds when I brought him home at 8 weeks! He is a little over a year old, and weighs 30 lbs.
I asked my vet the same question, and he laughed and asked me where I come up with these ideas? I smiled and told him the internet.... anyhow, his response was that he didn't feel there was a "formula" and I agree with the previous post that you need to look at the parents. Also, how much exercise they get is a HUGE factor. My Jennings (now 10 months) is ALWAYS on the go, and will run and run and RUN at the park until I drag him home. Jennings is 32 lbs now, a weight he has been at for 2 months.
Hi, I wonder if you could help me estimate the size of my mini labradoodle when I pick him up next week, he'll be 8 weeks and at 6 weeks he weighed 1kg! His mother is a black labrador and his father a miniature poodle. Thank you, Suzanne x
At about 15 weeks, Ned weighed 15 pounds. At a year he weighs 27 pounds (lost a pound of hair). I am sure he will gain some weight but I don't think he will become a 40 pound dog - maybe 32 at most. He really slowed down at 8 months.
I took my puppy to the vet at 17 weeks and she only weighed 15 lbs. The vet told me she would probably be mid 30s. The breeder told me he guessed 43 lbs with the dad being 45 lbs and mom 55 lbs. I don't think he was right. Based on the formula, I'm guessing she will be around 35 lbs. A big difference from what the breeder said. I guess we will see.
