Do your minis or mediums like playing with big dogs? Noah is almost 6 months and is just about 20lbs and 16" tall. He loves big dogs, but doesn't know how to play with them. Mostly, his interactions with them consists of following them around and rolling over onto his back so they can sniff him.
Halas doesn't really like playing with bigger dogs, but I think it depends on the dogs. Halas loves to play chase, but he doesn't like to wrestle. And it seems like a lot of the bigger dogs want to wrestle. Halas just rolls over on his back like Noah does, but then he gets gang-sniffed, which he really doesn't like. Halas has figured out that he loves playing with the littlest dogs he can find at the dog park. His favorites seem to be chihuahuas, weiner dogs, or any small dog that wants to play chase.
My Cooper has a smaller brother that he sometimes get's afraid of, so no he definitely doesn't like bigger dogs either. He actually is quite afraid of a lot. My standard LD, loved playing with everyone.
Gracie, a 30 lb Mini GD, plays with big dogs alot. She too, rolls over submissively to be sniffed at first. After everyone is satisfied with their introductions, she thinks she is a big dog. She knocks the big ones down by going under them and attacking their legs from underneath till they fall! It's hilarious to watch! But like Halas, she does not liked to be ganged up upon by multiple dogs. She also likes to play with small dogs, but she plays too rough for many of them (or their protective owners).
Max likes to check them out as well but, I wouldn't say he plays with them. He follows them, paws at them and tries to get their attention. He also tries to mount them. Then again, Max tries to hump everything and nothing including air - really! On the brite side - he is no longer fearful of any dog. He was quite shy and hesitant at 7 1/2 - 9 weeks old. Over a weekend he went into his crazy humping mode. :( What can I say? He's a lover not a fighter.
Ned lives with one 50 pound dog and one 60 pound dog, He plays with them and with his new 68 pound cousin. When we go to doodle get togethers or the dog park, he chooses dogs his size to wrestle with.
Jersey has always played with big dogs. I have a 70 pound lab, my daughters a 90 lb golden retriever and 120 lb Bernese Mtn dog and 100 lb rottweiler. She does play with smaller dogs too, but not as rough with the small dogs. She also loves cats.
Jasper landed into the land of giants when he came to our home. He was used to playing with big dogs already because the breeder he came from has doodles of all sizes. I took Zeke with me to meet him when we picked him up and that meeting and traveling together went great but not a lot of acutal playing together. Upon arrival home his meeting with Lily was a little rambunctious so it took him a few days to settle in to the routine. Today is a little less than a week of his being here and just this morning he and Lily were wrestling on the bed (level playing field) Zeke is still stumped as to how to play, Jasper will run under his legs and snatch a toy before he knows whats happened. Jasper is very comfortable playing with the big dogs, Lily is coming along nicely, but Zeke is still a little wary of this little thing zooming around. I'm sure in time everything will all work out.
