I have an amazing, perfect, 57lb nearly 2 year old Goldendoodle named Amos. I have a friend who wants a mini/medium f1b Goldendoodle. I want to make sure I stud him with a responsible breeder, so among other things, is it safe to breed a standard male to a medium/mini poodle? What weight would be safe and what is not?

Ben,I don't have the answer to your question about size differences but a responsible breeder would certainly have that information. Did you adopt Amos from a breeder? I ask because most breeders require that you spay or neuter their pups unless you purchase them as breeders which is significantly most costly than buying a pup for a pet. Has Amos been health tested for genetic diseases? This should be done before he is used for breeding as it is important for continuation of health in the Goldendoodle lines and responsible breeders always do this before breeding a dog.  Here is more info about breeders. Perhaps it will give you some ideas about whether or not it is a good idea to use Amos for breeding.

Your friend might want to consider this information too.
