I've found some neat backgrounds to use, but they always ask is it for FB, twitter, myspace....Am I looking in the wrong place or if I can use one of those which should I pick.

I tried using one for myspace and it didn't work.  I copy and pasted to the settings, my page, appearance, advanced options area but it didn't work.  Don't know if it's because I used the wrong "kind" or if it was a glitch or what?

Appreciate your help in advance!

I use the top choice of the two, however our site was upgraded since I decorated for Christmas and I don't know if that has affected our ability to use codes.  I guess I will find out soon because I will want to change my page soon.  I have found that sometimes my choice of background will not work and I have to use something else. The other thing is that you need to make sure you erase the other stuff on Advanced and that your other options are marked as transparent.
Thanks, I will give it a try again.  Do I need to choose from a myspace or facebook layout? Does it have to be a 2.o profile?
I think myspace but I am a hands on and play til it works without actually remembering the steps, kind of girl.
I just changed my background using glittergraphics backgrounds.  I scrolled down and used the myspace code.  The first choice that I tried would not load but the second choice did.
Nancy, your New Year's Page looks fantastic!
Thanks, I have such fun changing my page up.
THat looks great!  I've got to figure out which one I want and give it another try!
Hey Sandy, I am with you trying to learn how to do the backgrounds.  I will give you all the help when i figuredj it out.  I found a great page called pitapat which you can make tickers for the age of your dog and other things.  I just put it on Shelbys page and Send me a message directly to the page.  See ya soon. kev
I can help you!  Yea!  Okay, you can choose a theme from pre-selected ones if you would like. Go to change the appearance - look under your profile picture on your page. When you get to that page you can choose a theme and your page will automatically take on that design and colors.  Be sure to SAVE (bottom of the page). Now  if you want to do more, don't hit save until you are all done.  You can also change the colors of your text and background by  selecting those items - sides, body, header, text.  Now if you have done that, hit save.  If you want to do more you can upload a picture to be your sides, body, header or you can go to a website like glittergraphics and use some of their choices.  Check this stuf out and let me know what you need help with.  This was a real quick overview. I can get specific.

First -  your page - appearance - second tab - make the sides transparent as a color option.  Some of the themes will let you make the body transparent also. Then:

Open a second screen and go to

Glittergraphics.com

 backgrounds

scroll to bottom of page and click on backgrounds again and the subject - i.e. St. Patrick's Day   - return

click on one you like.  Scroll down a bit and you will see 2 codes you can use.  I use the top one.  Copy. and go back to your page, - appearance - then click on the third tab (I am not at home so I can't toggle back and forth with this page and mine) erase what is there and paste your background code there. Save.  See if it worked - some of them don't but most do.

If you like it - you are done.  If not choose another background or change the text color to be more visible or go with what you chose.

Let me know what else I can do.

I have figured out kinda how to do this.. However on Jane, Guinness & Murphy's page her background stretches the whole page. How does one achieve this? I guess it looks like the sides are changed to background. All I can change is the body background.
Easy fix, Stacy.  Part of what you can change are the sides.  You can put a color offer - like yellow would look cool with this or you can upload a picture or something for the sides.  Now if you want to get fancy you can go to 'advanced' and delete what is there and put a code - like from glitter graphics, or blogfairy etc and change the whole thing. Be sure to hit save.  sometimes I download a background from somewhere as a picture and then upload it to the sides as a picture.  Remember that you  choose Transparent if you are putting a picture there.
