NEW 5 Acre Dog Park at the Portage Lakes State Park ~ Akron area
Yeah! The Portage Lakes State Park, which is a little South of Akron, is putting in a new 5 Acre Dog Park! If any of you are familiar with the Portage Lakes State Park they actually already have a dog park but its probably only an acre or so and is really sandy and towards the water very mucky.
I was told that they are going to have a splash pad with water umbrella and good drainage. I am going to go check out what area of the park its going to be in but I believe Itowards the beginning of the park. We live right next door to the State Park so this is great news to us! The park system has allocated land for the new dog park and they started clearing the land 8-4-2010.

When is the opening?????? I want to go NOW. Just 3 minutes away! This is the best news in a long time. Is there any lake access? Never mind.... I'll go to the link but do tell us MORE!

My dogs can help build the park Starlit is a fantastic hole digger. Spud can fetch and carry tools
Tell them we want---here are our suggestions ( I saw they were looking for some on face book):
A fresh hose or access to drinking water
TREES--why do some of these parks have no shade
An area to separate small or shy dogs
A playground. Something to jump up on. Lots of dogs like the slides. Spud loves to slide. Sounds silly but I think a lot of dogs do like to slide. -

Hey,
The opening of Wingfoot Lake Park is this weekend. I had heard last year a dog park was to be included in the park along with swimming. I have not read anything about a dog park in the Beacon Journals Article today.
Anyone else know if a dog park was included as I had heard?
