Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

The past few years I have just picked a date and a park and posted a romp mainly because no one else has planned a romp and I just could not wait.   So this year I was looking for ideas, dates, locations, and days of the week for a romp.

In the past I tried to get people involved early so we could be at the park on a weekday instead of the busy weekend. Sometimes this has been the problem--the park is just so busy and filled with wild dogs!!  Of course our dogs are well behaved.

We have typically romped at Silver Springs Dog Park in Stow, Ohio.

Any ideas on another location or do we want to swim and romp there again?  Someone want to hold a private event at their home even?

So let's get this planning started.  I'm looking for ideas and suggestions for the following:

  • Location
  • Date
  • Day of the week

Hope to see you all very soon,  Enjoy Ann Kendig's video from a past romp

I live in Lima and would be interested in a romp if the dates work for me.  My school year ends in May . . . .

Okay Doris.  Do you have location and suggestions?  Would you be willing to drive up to Stow, OH --which is 3 hours from Lima?  Or do you have a park idea that  may be closer?

I realize many have driven here before because it is such a great place but I thought it unfair to have it in the same location year after year. It is only a half hour drive for me, but I know Ann and Mike seem to have to make that trip all time.

Hi Doris!

Joanne, we really enjoy coming to your area. We always have a great time and so do the dogs.
We are open to having a romp here at our house anytime. It has room to run and a pond to swim in. We live at the perfect dog park...except we don't have a fenced yard. If your dog has good recall, no problem. We have a big back field that is partially fenced and we have a small kennel. We have lots of room to walk your dog if they don't like to swim. We could have a cookout and we have plenty of room to bring in a camper or tents and of course we have bathrooms. There is a small rustic cabin that someone could stay in if they don't mind sleeping on a cot and using an outhouse!

The only other place I can think of is there is a really nice dog park in Celina. It is right by the lake and there are toilet facilities. They supply poop bags and have a water spicket for the dogs, just bring a bowl. If someone would like to camp around the area, there is a camp ground in St. Marys and they are offering discounted camping rates. Later in the summer it would be fun to get some folks together and rent a pontoon boat, have a picnik and go to the dog park.
We do have a dog park in Lima but it isn't the best but could work. Just throwing some ideas out there.

We're from Central PA, but often visit my parents in PGH, which is easily drivable to Stow for a Romp, we also have family in Cleveland we've been trying to get up to visit. Keep us in the loop!

I'll be trying to get an official romp together for the Lucky Paws Park once their swimming pool opens after Memorial Day (Freedom, PA). And can keep ya'll in the loop for that if there is interest.

Carla, sounds good.  I was thinking of posting this in the Western PA group.  I've attended a few romps in Pittsburgh and Edinborough. It is closer than many areas in my own state.

Yes, stay in the loop.

There's the info for the romp I'm trying to get together for us in PA, We'd love to meet you Joann, and all other Ohio-ans!

I would definitely like to meet you all up at the Bow Wow Beach :)  I have heard they are now treating the water :)  THANK GOODNESS!!!  The last time we were up there, poor Bear ended up with worms......but survived because I got early enough :)  Let me know when you all are coming up :)  I have taking Bear to the Double Dog Daycare in Stow to socialize more and he seems to LOVE IT!!!

Keep me updated ladies :)
