Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Are you interested in possibly doing a dog sitting trade...I take care of your dog while you’re gone, you take care of mine. I have a mini labradoodle, now about 5 months old, not really ready for her to stay with someone else “yet,” but certainly sometime down the road. I’d like to begin the process of developing a “dog sitting relationship” with another like-minded friendly dog owner who’d like to trade these kinds of services. I’m a home owner, living in the Milwaukie area, dog-friendly house, fenced backyard, no kids, no other pets, etc. My dog is extremely mild-mannered, easy to care for, and seemingly very friendly with every other dog (and person) that she meets. I’ve been around home this summer, but I see that I may be away this coming winter/spring for a few days at a time...maybe a week here and there, but generally nothing too extensive. I am probably willing to pay for my dog to stay at a kennel, but it isn’t my first choice at all. I much prefer to do a trade with another dog lover who has a “friendly” dog, any age, etc. I’d enjoy having your best little friend here as a companion to my dog while you’re gone...I’m home most of the time. If this interests you, let’s talk...I’d need to know about you, your dog and your thoughts for such a trade. I would need for you to see my house, meet my dog, etc., as I would yours.

I would certainly be interested. Our goldendoodle is about 15 months old and we have had our friends come spend time with him while we were away for a day or so and that worked well. However, we just got married and since everyone we knew were with us for the few wedding days, we had to board him. Although the place we boarded him is wonderful and he will love it eventually, he's not ready for such a shock. He came back 4 pounds lighter, completely different, slightly traumatized and really shy which is not him at all. It took him weeks to be back to normal and we were on the phone with our vet often making sure he wasn't truly sick. I wouldn't do that again and definitely not for more than one day. He is more of a one on one type of dog and a facility is very traumatizing for him. We have our home in Portland, fenced in back yard, no kids, no other pets, etc. - just us three. Our doodle is as every calls him "the sweetest dog they've ever met" so he's a treat :)
Hi, would you email me at ghanson222@gmail.com and we can share some additional information about our dogs and trading, etc. Thanks!
Hi there,
I would be interested as well, and I live in NE Portland, not far from Marine Drive, and Jantzen Beach. I have 2 mini Goldendoodles and they are very sweet. Also, just so you know, we do have a house sitter who we have used for about 10 years I think, with our 2 Beagles, and now our 2 Goldendoodles. She is terrific and charges $25./ a day. She stays overnight and is extremely attentive and responsible. She sits for another family in the Milwaukie area, on my old street, near 224 and Rusk Road. You can always leave me a note if that is something you may need at some point.
I have a fenced yard as well, and live near a park that has a great walking trail. If you want to email me, either of you, my address is alo.noodles@gmail.com I know that we would not want to kennel Melody and Morgan, as they are very used to individual attention and we have a good routine here. I am home a lot, as I work very part time. My husband works full time, and if I have a particularly long day, which happens one day per month, he works a half day.
