Zoey is almost 11 weeks and she is wonderful! We have been spending LOTS of time in the kitchen with her (doors and no rugs!) How old were your pups when you started to bring them into more rooms in your house (of course with supervision)?
We kept Willy crated for short periods of time in our family room, and then took him outside and gave him lots of praise when he went. He was crated at night as well. He trained very quickly, in a matter of days actually, but I think it was more due to following LiLi out the doggie door when he wasn't crated. If it's possible for you to have one, I'd highly reccommend a doggie door.
Joey picked up potty training pretty quickly but we never left him unsupervised until about 20 weeks, I think. We took him out about every 30 min to an hour until he was about 16 weekish and hung out mostly in the kitchen initially, while blocking off the rest of the house. During that time, we made sure we played in the rest of the house for an hour here and hour there to let him know that the house is living quarters for all of us and not a bathroom. He is still crated at night in our room. He is 8 months now. What really helped a lot was Poochie Bells - he picked that up really fast as a a young pup and is consistant to this day. We are all so lucky that doodles are really smart! And, of course, we praised like crazy when he both rang it and also when he was in that act of going potty in the proper area. Looking back on it, when he did have accidents, it was always on rugs so watch out for that. For some reason, he never ever had an accident in our bedroom though. We aslo never crated him when we were home except at night. Congratulations on your new pup!
