Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, I just have a quick question. When can I expect Beckett to sleep later? He does great now. He sleeps all night from 11 to 6 ish. But he seems to be stuck at 6 in the morning. i'd love it he'd sleep alittle later. He sleeps in his crate in my bedroom. He's completely housebroken now. He's been waking at 6 for quite awhile now. He's about 18 weeks old now. Is it still too early to expect anything later right now? He's a mini goldendoodle and weights about 15 lbs. Any info, etc would be great. When does everyone elses puppy wake?

Yeah, I have been covering the crate. My problem is my DH works nights. So he's sleeping in the morning. I'm the one that has to get up with Beckett early. He does go back to sleep for a little while. I just hope he starts sleeping later when I go back to school. I don't have to get up till 7:30 ish. If he's getting up early, I'm not the type that can go right back to sleep in the morning. I sometimes lie there for 1/2 hr. or so before falling back to sleep. He is still little..4 1/2 months old and about 15lbs. That's little and I hope as he gets older he'll sleep later. It doesn't matter though if he goes to bed at 11 or a few times 12, he still gets up by 6!(even though he goes down later!!)
Bailey and Toby used to wake at 5 AM when my husband would wake up and let them out. Then, back in their crates till I got up at 7 AM. Now they both sleep till 7 AM when I let them out. I think it just takes some time and the smaller they are the quicker it seems they have to potty.
Hi Jackie, I got Chi on 8/18 he is 10 weeks old. He also sleeps in a crate in our bedroom. We take him out for the last time between 11-12. He sleeps until 5-6. When the weekend comes I too would like him to sleep a little later. But I figured we would take him out for the last time at midnight and hope that he sleeps until 7:00. I think that this is wishful thinking since he is so young. The earliest I have had to get up is 4 am the latest is 6:30. Chi is a standard size and weight about 11.5 lbs.
Hey everyone Willson slept until 6:15 this morning I was sooo happy ! :=)
I almost went to check to see if he was okay but at 6:15 i heard him I was such a happy mom
Try the pee and back into the crate. Also, you can cover the sides of the crate with a blanket to keep things a little dark. We go from 10 to 6ish, but on weekends I take her out then put her back in until about 8. Every once in a while she gets up at 5; definitely back in she goes! I have an (almost) 5 month old.
That' good to know that yours sleeps about the same amount of time and is the same age. I was afraid I had an early riser! And that's one thing I'm not..lol I do cover the sides of the crate. I'll try putting him right back in after he goes. I've been keeping him up for alittle while, thinking he wouldn't go right back to sleep after sleeping all night. Thanks
It's all a dream. Our 19week pup is taken out for a pee about 10.30-11pm. He just wants to come back inside straight away. It's winter here in Melbourne and we have a a lot of welcomming rain which seems to be coming most evenings (final pee time). We put him in his crate and cover it. His 1st wake up in about midnight. We tell him to sit down and most of the time he settles back down. Within 15 minutes either side of 5am he is awake. We take him out. We have tried to bring him back inside but he barks. I have four your kids which I do not want woken at this hour of the morning. Marley is happy to stay outside. I feel bad though as he is so young and it's really cold outside.
I suppose its like having a baby and it takes time for them to have a full night sleep.
Kachi is going to be 6 months old next week & I haven't used an alarm clock since we brought him home. He now just sleeps on our bathroom floor, and every morning between 6:05 and 6:11, two little paws, a wet nose, and a stuffed baby of some kind, land next to my head to let me know its time to wake up! I'm hoping that whoever said that as the days get shorter, our pups will sleep longer, is correct, because I would love, love, love, a 7:00am wake up call, instead!!
Oh, I hope so too !! I won't need an alarm clock either next week when I go back to work. Beckett's up between 6 and 6:15 every morning. I hope he sleeps later as he gets older. I'm also hoping that as he gets more freedom in the house it will also help. I know that when we first let him out of the crate for longer periods of time.(when he was pretty much housebroken) his naps would be longer. He used to wake up in the crate the second he heard someone and want to get out. But when he was napping on the floor, you could step right over him and he'd stay asleep!!
My husband has always let Giada out at 5 when he goes to work, then I gget up about 8. we recently weened her of this and now she sleeps sraight through from 11 pm- 8 am!!!!! Now for the School year she will get up @ about 6. My older dog has always adjusted well.
Tamara, How old is Giada? Beckett's 5 months old. He's up at 6 everyday. Today he slept till 6:30!!! I can't wait till he sleeps till 8:00.
Okay, so this one I am an expert at. My puppy and I will sleep until noon already and she is only 3 months. But, I do not go to bed until 2ish due to my unusual work hours. I do take her out once in the morning, but then we sleep again. It may take her a while to fall asleep and get comfortable. But my answer is, that it all depends on your schedule, and what she is used to. Like my puppy is used to waking up around noon or 1pm. (I am a college student)
