What different things do you fill your puppy's Kong with? When we leave Emma during the day in her crate, I usually fill her Kong with peanut butter (which she loves), but wanted some other suggestions? What about canned puppy food? I tried cheese but she really didn't care for it too much.
My two love their Kongs filled with a combination of peanut butter, wheat germ, mashed banana and plain yogurt. Put in the freezer, the solid frozen Kong will last a long time, so it's a great occupier!
Vanilla, low fat yogurt..then I freeze it
Bananas, apples, peanut butter, carrots, biscuits, kibble...anything edible basically =)
But they last longer when I make something I can freeze.
I would like to find a 'filler' for old hooves ... any of these work? Jezzy doesn't really take to the Kong. I thought of taking some regular dry food, pulverizing it in the food processer then mixing in peanut butter or cheese whiz...
I fell my pups kong with the stuff you buys for it in the Liver flavor.....OMG! you would think I had a pot of gold on the counter! He even knows when I take the top off, and can't wait to get it. It is really smelly and he loves it!
Is anyone concerned about the peanut butter scare? I am going to try these other suggestions instead of peanut butter. I also thought of liverwurst paste. I use the paste to put a pill in it to hide it.
I just learned a new Kong trick - especially in light of the new Peanut Butter scare which we added to the kong for some frozen softness..... Add only hard pieces of kibble / biscuits / organic treats etc then run water through the kong from top to bottom. It compacts the goodies so you can really stuff them in there and also softens them up - then freeze. These are so much easier to make / less mess, and the water addition gives the same texture as adding yogurt or peanut butter. Our pups love them!
Hi - I don't buy peanut butter since I am allergic and can't stand the smell anyhow, so I take the Medium-sized Milk Bone biscuits, break them in half, and shove one or two in the Kong. It gets kind of "stuck" under the rim of the Kong, and keeps Jennings quite busy just licking it.
