He may never lift. Lucca started lifting his leg at 5 months but only on walks. Had to look macho...lol. He still squats at home and sometimes on walks. Depending upon where we are (on grass or by bushes). Our 8 year old Golden rarely lifts, almost always squats.
Our little guy just turned a year and he still squats too. Actually he doesn't really do anything, he just stands there and pees haha. Our neighbor's dog is a shiba inu and they said he say a dog lift his leg at the dog park and ever since then, their dog has picked up the behavior too. So maybe if he sees other dogs do it, yours will do the same. However, we take him to dog parks constantly so I'm sure my dog has seen other dogs do it and he still hasn't. (not that I'm complaining).
Duff is 14 months and has never lifted his leg. His older brother is 2 and I was told he has started doing it occasionally.
99% of the time, Taquito squats. He has been neutered for 5 1/2 years! He pees lifting his leg 1% of the time when he follows his cousin Charley around (also a chihuahua) - like he is showing off or something...he pees all over himself when he tries and it cracks me up :)
this is so wild. maybe, i've become ignorant to the ways of a dog. It's been a while since i raised a puppy (20 years). Oh well, is this normal or a doodle thing? Dewey has had social interaction with other dogs (male and female alike). Perhaps he just wants to be perpetually young (like as all).
