Zoe had her first full day of doggie day care yesterday and I am SOLD! She was completely pooped and happy last night - and so mellow today. We've been walking her twice a day (us in the AM before work, and a dog walker 3 times a week in the afternoon) and limited (30 min) play time 3 times a week (more on the 2 days I stay home), but boy did she have a lot of energy when I'd get home from work. She *clearly* needed to have a full romp day with her dog buddies. It took me a while to find a place that I really liked, and this place is a bit farther than I'd like, but it seems worth it. This place has segregated small/large dogs area, inside and outside runs and the dogs are fully supervised at all times. They make a point of placing dogs with like personalities together.
So curious - what's your experience with doggie day care? How often do you leave your doods? Any negative experiences or behavior I should watch for? Since this went so well, I plan to do doggie day care once a week for now - maybe twice a week in a couple of months.

Really? In addition to giving heart worm medicine, there's a separate de-worming process? That's good to know. Just check her stools I guess? I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.
I was also wondering about fleas. We of course have her on flea and tick medicine, but I thought being around so many dogs she's bound to get some. But so far, haven't seen any.
Our doggie day care also offers 1/2 days - any 5 hours between their normal time (7-7) for 18 bucks. I've started doing full days Tuesday and 1/2 days Friday. It's just a win-win all around, loving it.
At Dory's daycare they check each of the dogs every morning for fleas before letting them in. I have a backup daycare that I use on occasion and they don't do the flea check which always makes me a little uneasy.
briggs goes once every other week, mostly because i am very lucky and my work has a dog policy, so i bring him to work with me most days :) but he LOVES it. and we love our place and are planning on sending him there for an extended time when we go on vacation this summer. ours even has a place out in the country for extended care, that has a pond and everything! it's only $25 a day for us, and then the boarding is only $32! so grateful that it is so reasonable!
