Duke was neutered yesterday and he is doing great.  He was his energetic self when I got to the vet yesterday to pick him up.  They said he he really wanted to go home, he wasn't enjoying being cooped up with his soft cone collar on.  He slept on and off during the 45 minute drive home.  He got sick a few minutes after we got here, but has been fine after that.  He did each lunch which I brought to the vet for him, but it was really just bile coming up.  He has been trying to lick the incision and has gotten around the cone to reach it so I am still leaving it on today at least for a while.

I treated him to wet food yesterday but he didn't poop all day yesterday, and hasn't gone yet today.  Gave him wet food for breakfast, but will try his BB dry food with some yogurt for lunch to see if that helps.  I'm thinking it's his system dealing with the meds and then being off schedule?

Here is a photo of him right when we got in the car.

Then he passed out!

oh poor Duke!  We were neutered yesterday too, but have had a different experience.  No cone for us, and so I am on constant watch and have to make sure he doesn't pull at his incision.  Teddy hasn't eaten much since he has been home, but bowel and urine have been plenty.  sleeping more than ususal, but the hardest thing is trying to keep the energy low! Teddy wants to run and jump and I don't want an open wound. (they glued shut the top layer)

I have been giving lots of kong treats to keep him occupied in between naps.  hope Duke feels better soon, and you don't have to go back to get stitches removed..

AnnaBelle says she feels for you guys.  She got spayed Wednesday.  She was doing pretty good but I put a cone on her overnight just so I wouldn't have to worry about her.  I've found the soft ones aren't a lot of help as they seem to be able to get around them.  With the fosters that we have had, 3 were neutered and they all went after their stitches.  My females haven't been so bad.  The males all had cones for the whole 10 days.  AnnaBelle did pretty well.  She is having a little pee issue now, which we had with our Sophie when she was spayed as well.  She had trouble with her poo yesterday.  She went right after she got home, but then several times throughout the day she tried to go and couldn't.  If she didn't go this morning we were going back to the vet, but she woke us up about 5 and went and and pooed and pooed and pooed, then peed a few times.  Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and this is behind them.

He will be off potty wise for a day or so because thy would have home fast before surgery. Once all th new food makes its way through he will go normally again.
How's duke doing?

Poor little guy...thinking of you Duke and hope you will be back to your old self in no time!

Lol! Glad to hear he is doing so well! The meds that they sent home with Finn were anti inflammatories and pain pills together and they said use them twice/day for five days. Because of the anti inflammatory, I gave him all of them and wow, he was so sleepy and quiet...this sounds terrible but it was such a nice break! ;0). Plus, he is so active that it was probably good that they slowed him down a bit. I'm glad he's back to his crazy puppy self but it was nice to sleep in a bit later for a couple days. ;0). Glad duke is doing well!

Hugs to Duke. Glad to hear that he is doing well and making a rapid recovery. Casey & Cody have an appointment for their surgery on Friday. Guess it will be an interesting weekend trying to keep 2 of them under control.  They each have their own crate and love to sleep in their crate, so that should help a bunch.
