Hi all,

On sunday while out walking with my husband Doogle was playing with another puppy, when he came back he had blood all over his eye. It looks as though he had maybe caught it on a branch of a tree. My husband brought him straight home and i cleaned his eye and he had a big graze on his top eyelid and when i investigated further he has actually torn his bottom eyelid. The vet said he is very lucky not to have lost his eye or his sight. It took 3 of us at the vets to hold him down while the vet put a special green dye in his eye to check it was ok - he's such a big strong boy, 9 months old, 27 inches tall and almost 80 pounds. He is now on an anibiotic eye drop twice a day, and that is also a major ordeal trying to administer the eye drops. He didn't need stitches on his bottom eyelid luckily and it has started to knit together nicely. I'm going to be extra cautious now when he's playing as i don't want the same thing to happen again.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor guy! Thank goodness he'll heal fine but I'm sure it was very upsetting for you all!! Give him a big hug and a belly scratch.
Wow, how scary!  I am very sorry for what happened, poor Doogle and you!!
Ouch and then how scary for you!!!  Glad to hear that he'll be o.k.!!

Wowza Scarey, My sister had a puppy years ago he was still only around 20 pounds or so, and he walked under our kitchen table, the cat freaked and clawed him right in the eye. He was blind in that eye for life, and had to be kept in a dark room for a few weeks while it healed in order to keep the eye. I was sweeping the other day, and Marabelle was attacking the broom, she ran and lunged at it with her mouth, and slid right into my foot, she yellped poor girl her face went right into my toe nail, they weren't even long, but I cut them right down to the skin so it never happens again poor girl.  I was so scared I got her in the eye, she kept rubbing at her face for a few seconds. Then she was fine thank doodles. Those accidents happen so fast I am glad your doogle is OK.

on no, poor baby. I am sure it is a struggle to put the drops in. hugs

Yes, these things happen so quickly and it is so scary.  Thankfully it is not a permanent injury.  He looks like a very handsome boy.

Poor Doogle! So glad he's okay!
