I swear I saw a post on this the other day but cannot find it so I'm sorry if I am being repetitive.  We have fleas and I am just beside myself over it.  I do everything right...I am extremely diligent about giving both of my dogs their revolution (on the exact day it's due) and we get frequent baths.  But somehow we have managed to get fleas.  My vet says it's from the weather we had and that the outside animals like rats and racoons are bringing them into my backyard and that if you are not on a very strong dose of the flea prevention that in high flea times it just won't cut it.  So now I have a flea infestation on my poor puppies who are scratching like crazy, my house, my backyard, and of course me because they sleep in bed with me.  So here's the plan of attack...I have had them come and spray my yard once and we will do it another three times, two weeks a part (I hate doing this and putting insecticide in my yard/house but my vet says there's not another way, otherwise I will never get rid of them).  I'm also using a combination of their revolution and comfortis (the revolution then in two weeks the comfortis, then two weeks the revolution, etc for three months).  My vet says between that and spraying they will eventually die after three months.

Here's my question...have any of yall ever had an issue with fleas (so gross, I know, I promise I have a really clean house and puppies!) and what have you done?  I am really concerned about giving them this comfortis but I just don't know if I have another option?  Do ya'll have any experience with this?

Any advice that ya'll can give me I would greatly appreciate!

I didn't think revolution was effective for fleas? We use Advantix (no cats in our house) and it works very well. I know frontline doesn't work as well in my area. Maybe try a different brand.

I am just finding out about diatamatious earth. Apparently you can put in in the yard and on your dogs. Not sure about puppies ages. I have seen good and bad reviews about it, but think it might be worth a try and it is cheaper and not meant to be harmful.
I have heard you can use it for inside the house (a bit dusty) in beds, carpets and floors, and yards. Meant to be good to get rid of fleas and ticks if used appropriately. I am going to do a little more research and then if all looks okay I will give it a try. Good luck.

KLN ~ when I lived in Seattle years ago it seemed fleas were a problem.  My vet always said to give our dog at that time a capstar tablet to kill the adult fleas and I also used Sentinel on a regular basis.  For the house, we used flea bombs which you place one in each room and set them to start and leave the house for an hour.  I found them to be very effective.  I can tell if a dog or cat has fleas because within minutes the darn fleas will be crawling on me! YIKES!

Good luck.

I have used capstar before as well when my first puppy came home from the breeder. I was actually surprised my vet didn't recommend that. Instead he's having me do this two week rotation between comfortis and revolution. I'm crossing my fingers that between that, spraying the yard, and this diatamatious that we will get rid of these suckers!

Fleas are a mess

I have not had them in years........

Clean  We use Moxie for the yard they keep it sprayed

I also sprinkled diatomaceous earth in all the carpets and furniture for the three or four weeks

then keep the flea meds on the dogs and the yard sprayed

We have only had them once and only that once we have had dogs now now for 23 years

We were gone for three weeks and are having the same issue, this weekend we are pulling all furniture from the walls and vacuuming EVERYTHING then will apply diatomaceous earth to the carpet, furniture and bedding.  I was told to leave it heavier under place where dogs/cats can't reach (especially baseboards).  If you can afford it Fleabusters is AWESOME, but the house I am in now is too big and it would be too costly on my salary.

Keep this post going I'm anxious to hear and get info too, I posted something recently and got a response with some good home remedies, I think it was under diatomaceous earth.  I'll double check and add the link here.

GOOD LUCK!

Good luck to you too! Fleas = big sigh.
Thanks so much guys! It sounds like diatamatious is the way to go. I'm headed to pick some up now! I'm hoping this does the truck! Thanks again for everyone's advice!
Make sure it's food grade though Nd not the kind used for pools. Good luck.
Where would I purchase the food grade DE (food for fleas and snail?)
We got ours at lowes in the garden center.
I ordered mine online.
