Goldendoodles fur

Are all adult Goldendoodles curly?  Nash is 8 months old and has really straight fur.  I think he takes after his golden retriever mother.  Will his coat go curly when the adult fur comes in or will he just go a little wavy.  Either way he will always be gorgeous to me.

Goldendoodles have hair anywhere from a golden retriever straight hair to a poodle's tight curl.  My Webster has thick, curly hair and his sister has straight, flat, silky hair (she looks like a black golden retriever).   It looks like Nash may have some wiry hair.  If so, I wouldn't be surprised if he developed some wave.  My mom's goldendoodle was a ball of fluff as a pup and her adult coat is slighly wiry and wavy.  You might find the "from Pup to Adult" group interesting - there are pictures of different doodles and their coat changes.

We have two F1 Goldendoodles. One is curly and doesn't shed and the other is barely wavy and does shed. There is a group called something like Where's the Poodle in my Doodle?

Nash is adorable. He has a coat like Izzy. I'd like to see if his legs are like Izzy's. Do you have more photos? Izzy is almost 9 months and I call her a "work in progress" as her coat has only just started coming in. It will be definitely more like a GR wavy coat and she may not have the fluffy legs. I just wanted her butt covered (which it's done):) instead of her having a baboon butt:) Her brother Lucca, had his adult coat by now. I'm like you, no matter what they look like we'll still love them!!!!

 

I really think these F1's are hard to predict. Izzy looked just like her siblings at 8 weeks. Now the siblings coats are a lot fuller than hers. We know 6 out of 9 of Lucca's siblings and their coats are all over the range from straight to total fluff.

Luna is an F1 with only a slight wave in her hair.   At 10 months her adult coat is growing in and it's a bit wiry and sheds.

 

She looks like a miniature golden retriever, I think Nash looks like he will be a bit more typical "doodly"

Nash looks like my Buddy when he was that age.  His hair stayed kinda straight with a little wave, however, his legs and chest are are sort of kinky.  He sheds heavily like a golden retriever.  At least we don't have to worry about mats with coats like this.

Goldendoodles vary greatly.  Some come out very retriever looking (though not most), some come out quite curly, and some inbetween with the shaggy look--with all sorts of variations in between.  It's just like having 6 kids--unless a mom and dad look identical, their kids will all look slightly different but have similarities with the parents in different ways.  If he doesn't have any curls by 8 months, chances are he won't get much curlier, but his hair could get a bit longer, shaggier.
