Hair products

This is my first doodle and am hoping y'all can give me some advice in terms of shampoos or even other products. I've attached some pics of Finn and his "crazy" hair. He is seven months old and still a puppy but his hair seems crazy and out of control to me! He has real tight curls around his neck where his collar is but is otherwise it's pretty straight. Is this what a straight doodles hair is supposed to look like? It looks brittle and dry to me but since this is my first doodle maybe I just don't know what to expect? Do y'all use any shampoos or other products to help "tame" your doodles hair? He's due for a haircut but even after his last haircut, his hair still had this texture.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all y'all's advice as I navigate through Finley's first year!

Nancy, here are some close shots to Ned's (I think?)....I guess Finn is a bit darker but I think their coats are pretty close! I can see the curls around Ned's neck (Finn has those too). As I was going though my pics, I realized the shorter he is, the curlier he is. He's due for a haircut so I might cut him a bit shorter and see what happens. ;0)

Wow!  Look at this one of Ned. Finn is lots darker, but the rest...... identical to me.  I wish you a different adult coat than Ned's though. He matted badly for about 2 years, but while he still mats, we can go two weeks between brushings - but it takes foreeeeevvverrr to brush.

After every bath (usually once a week) and that's been helping.

when Ned turned 6 months he began matting.  For at least a year, we had to brush and comb every other day just to keep up with the matting.  Finally we were able to taper off to 3 times a week, then two and now we can go two weeks and it isn't bad;  sometimes we even go three weeks, but it takes at least two sessions to get him mat-free.

Just an update y'all...I tried a new shampoo and conditioner...strangely enough it's made by kong...it worked awesome! I think the conditioner really helped. I highly recommend it! I also realized that he has really tight curls until about halfway to the end length of his hair...he gets groomed in a week and a half and I'm going to cut him short and see if that brings out the curls...crossing my fingers! Thanks for all the advice! I've also ordered "the stuff". ;0)
