Heartworm/Internal Parasites Medication

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice re: heartworm/internal parasites medication.  Our puppy was given an Interceptor pill by the breeder a few times before we got her and was also sent home with one for us to give to her.  I asked the vet last time we were in if we should continue this and for how long (or if you're supposed to give them a heartworm pill their whole life), but didn't really get a straight answer from him (there's a slight language barrier).  I will bring it up with him again next time we're in, but for now thought I'd check with all you other puppy owners here to see what you've been told and/or get your opinions.  Should we continue giving her an Interceptor pill every month or is there another medication that would be better?

Ahh.. thank you.  I was looking on the puppy group for something about the meds, but I will check out your link!
