We've had Stella Belle for 4 weeks now,she is 20 weeks. We are currently treating her for uti with abx. Yesterday her routine fecal was positive for coccidia and she was started on albon. That's two antibiotics at once.I'm concerned she will get diarrhea.Any advice also she had no symptoms of coccidia

Our granddog, a boxer, had coccidiosis and roundworms and another which I don't remember.  He also had hereditary mange.  He was skinny and dehydrated and days if not hours left.  Anyway, any other dogs should be treated.  The breeder you bought Stella should treat all her dogs.  I am assuming that is where she got it.

Years ago my Samoyed got coccidiosis from eating bunny poop. If I were you, I'd start her on a probiotic to replenish the "good" bacteria in her gut, and maybe help prevent diarrhea. The one I use for Winnie is called Proviable- some vets carry it, or you can buy it on the internet.

Best wishes!

When you give the probiotic you must make sure it is at least 2 hours before or after you give the antibiotics.  Otherwise it will not be effective.   You might also start giving her some cooked sweet potato with her meals.  Lots of fiber and very good for firming up poops.

You can also mix some plain yogurt with her food.  Our vet had us do this for our doodle's diarrhea.
