Indestructible Chew Toys??? Please share your secrets!!

Hi all:

Josie is six months, 11.5 pounds (so very manageable size-wise), but she is VERY FAST MOVING and has become very destructive with her chewing. So far, she has chewed through two leashes, three easy walk harnesses (we do go with the Lupine leashes now, which they replace, fortunately, free of charge), and I always have an extra easy walk harness around because I can't live without it. I have also smartened up and taken both of these items off when not in use...

As for toys, she has chewed through her KONG!, anything made from that heavy plastic (Orka toys) (she chews off pieces - I don't think she's swallowing any of them, but I certainly can't leave her unsupervised with them). Rope toys are in pieces - usually lots of small threads. Even the "Tough Toys" stuffed things have fallen victim to her intense chewing. She'll chew a piece right off of them.

Again, fortunately, she doesn't seem interested in eating - only destroying.

She does love bully sticks but the smell of some of them is nauseating. She also loves a good antler at times, but these don't always do the trick. Sometimes I'll give her a Himalayan chew which keeps her busy for a good amount of time. Anything else like this???

She loves the stuffed things that have squeakers and crunchy noises. She also loves an empty 20 oz. diet coke bottle, but she did manage to shred a Poland Spring bottle last night (that was inside one of those stuffies - she got it out).

We have to watch her every second, or she'd be chewing up our furniture - loves pillows.

She lost some teeth about a month ago. I don't know if she's losing more or if she's having an early adolescence or what, but she has suddenly become very destructive.

She looks so innocent, doesn't she???  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no way that beautiful puppy can do all those things! Lol. Both my doodles are destructive. Forget about cute squeakers they don't stand a chance. I'm the dummy who continues to spend money trying to find something that they'll enjoy and not destroy in less than 10 minutes. Yes, my Rico has also chewed to pieces his puppy kong, rips ropes to strings, chewed my baseboards etc and when given rawhide bones he makes it disappear within 1 hour. I agree the bully sticks are nasty smelling and I won't buy them because of that. The only thing that I have found to be durable are the Nylabone chews. I have two that have broken the record for durability. Good luck!!

Deer or elk antlers!  A lot of people recommend http://antlerpantry.com

Luna can destroy a nylabone in 10 minutes but she's had the same antlers for years.

OMG, she's a fluff ball.  Sophie is the EXACT same way.  She's 27 lbs and we bought her a Nylabone for serious chewers (it's for large dogs).  She has chewed off pieces of it.  I don't know how she enjoys chewing something that much.  She has also gone through two nylon leashes because I didn't realize she had put them in her mouth.  Her teeth are like little saws!  I'd be interested in hearing what types of chew toys are recommended as we have found out that Sophie can't play with any cute stuffed dog toys!  She chews them up in an hour.

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one.  Doodle is almost 6 months old and she is doing the same thing.  She chews up carpet, any type of cardboard she can get her paws on, and pillows stand no chance.  I had pillows in her crate and she tore them up. I bought her a memory foam dog bed and she chewed it up.  She also destroys her toys. she had the cutest duck toy that is now in 5 pieces.  I bought her some really big bones that I thought would keep  her occupied and they only last about an hour.  The only things she hasn't destroyed are a kong stuffed animal and her nylabones.  She can mess the nylabones up but so far she hasn't gotten any pieces off.  she is also fond of baseboards and the coffee table.

My 18 month old 70 pound Labradoodle Mojo has chewed everything from 3 pairs of glasses to shoes and dish towels and every toy I have bought him except his kong. By the time he was a year he stopped chewing things that weren't his and concentrated on his toys, easy walk harness (chewed 3) and leashes ( I too buy Lupine) and a bed. He wound up at the er vet after chewing a tennis ball that was part of a rope toy. I would buy toys in hopes he will spare it but even the toughest ones get gutted so finally stopping until something is recommended by a trust worthy source. The only safe thing for him to chew (with supervision) is a marrow bone. The Himalayan chews get chewed to small pieces that I worry could be swallowed or choked on so I stopped them.

They have a VERY slight odor compared to the regular ones!  I know what you mean about the regular ones...the smell gags me.  These have a slight odor when you get them because they are in a plastic bag but I have found if you leave the bag open and let the air circulate,  they are fine.

Things could be worse. Our doodles are large enough (50lbs+) to counter surf, and I am on my third smart phone, due to Mya. The antlers do seem to last much longer than anything else that we have tried. Probably followed by Nylabones and hard rubber Kong products..... Our oldest, Dawson, is fascinated with 20oz. Diet Coke bottles. He will bunt a bottle off the end table with his nose. As soon as it hits the floor, he thinks it's legally his..... We occasionally let him have it, after removing the bottle cap and ring. Anything stuffed becomes disemboweled in several minutes, especially if there is stuffing or a squeaker. Tennis balls get peeled like an orange in no time flat.

I'm really leaning towards giving them more Diet Coke bottles, and the remains go in the recycle bin.....
