We got a 5 month last week, we found out she had tape worms and has been treated for it. She was also very itchy all over. The vet said she got the tape worms from fleas, she is on revolution, so they are gone. He gave her a prednisone injection and 2 weeks of prednisone pills. She is still itchy especially in the groin. Tonight I found a red raised pin point rash in some areas. Is this a puppy rash, and does anyone have any suggestions on how to decrease her itchiness?

When I got my rescue he had a rash in his groin area and it diagnosed as a secondary infection. He got meds like you did and a topical cream I used on the area. You can bathe them with a soothing shampoo like an oatmeal one.

She was put on prednisone, which hasn't really done much for the itching initially. I put some polysporin ointment on it, and that seems to have made it better. I'm thinking about taking her off the prednisone, not sure if it helped at all, and it's not a good medication to be on. If it doesn't clear up then I will take her to the vet.

You might want to post this question in the Health and Medical Issues group - maybe they have more insight. We don't have a specific rash-related itch with our puppy, but he is a pretty itchy pup in general. We give him Wellactin - which is an omega-3 supplement to help with skin and coat. I know a lot of people also mentioned that they use EPO - evening primrose oil for their doodle's skin and coat.
