I live alone with my pup. When I go out, he is crated, but when I am home he is with me all the time, but does not have accces to my whole house so I am stuck in the kitchen with him. I have Inv Fence, but he will not stay outside without me there. I started doing that a few months ago so he does not get into trouble, but now he is so used to my playing fetch or patting him that I can not go inside for a minute. Any advice??
How old is the puppy? It seems very restrictive that he can't leave the kitchen with you supervising him elsewhere in the house. I think you might want to start to do this. My yard is fenced but now my 16mos. old dog wants to come in when I do even though he'll play happily with the 6 mo old puppy when I'm outside. sometimes I resort to sneaking in the house! at time I tell him I won't let him in for a while and sometimes that works too because he'll get distracted by something in the yard.
He just turned 10 months. He has a very large area so is not being restricted by not having acccess to the rest of my home. My is is house is very open and "adult" so it would be tough to give him full access. I restricted my older dogs too, unless I was with them, but Reggie would be too tempted now at this age. As for the outside, it sounds like we have a similar problem. If he does not see me leave, I try to escape but I guess it is boring alone. I may try to get some special outdoor toys. Thanks
