Has anyone else experienced their puppy having the leg shakes? Chewie will just be standing and his front leg will start shaking. It does not seem to bother him, but looks very strange. Chewie will be 17 weeks on Jan 6th.

My puppies leg does that to when he is sitting. It scared me a first. I want to know too!
You don't notice his knees bothering him at all, right?
My chihuahua's legs do this but he has "sliding kneecaps" - it is a patella problem. Is Chewie a mini? Minis can be prone to this.

I am sure he will end up being fine! And you can always call and ask your vet!
Chewie is a "medium" size he is about 20 pounds now and is "supposed" to be 50 pounds max. I take him to the vet Friday for shots so I will ask then.
Zoe's leg does that. DH said that its just his nervous system developing.
I had heard about the nervous system from our trainer. Which makes sense. But it is still really weird to see.
I posted this question about 9 months ago,. There are several on here. My vet also told us that legs shakes can be normal neurological part of development of young pups. Spud is 13 months old. The shakes went away months ago. Can be a wierd thing to see though--and scary! Here are the previous posts:

Thanks !!! I will check these posts out.
Holly does this too. We've kind of narrowed it down to when she's very excited or anxious. She does it mostly when waiting to be released for food or a treat, when we bring in from playing outside. I'd like to know why too :).
Timbow did this when he was a puppy. Our vet said it was normal and was just part of his growing process. She was right..it went away within a couple months and has never returned. Ask your vet just to make sure, but I'm sure Chewie is fine. :)
My puppies are nearly 8 months now, and theirs' both did that on the front legs and it was when they were sitting and usually after coming back in from our walk or playing outside...or inside. I have not seen either of them with it nearly as often as it was just a few months ago. Hunter was also a huge clutz when he would run and even walk because his feet were way too big for his body and now he runs and walks fine tipping the scales at 85 lbs! I think it is a part of their growth spurt, my vet did not raise any concern when I mentioned it back 4 months ago when they had their last appointment. It seems to be the consensus that it is a normal part of their growth, but if your instincts tell you it might be more, always seek a vet's advice :-)
Thanks. Chewie is certainly having a growth spurt !!
