Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
For fun, I was wondering if anyone has tried this formula. I know it's probably not super accurate. My dog was predicted to be 30 to 40 pounds and this formula is saying 66 pounds for him. My vet originally said 70 pounds but he only had one weight and said he needed two on the chart to make a good estimate. I laughed and said NO WAY and he said he seems to have a large frame and he'll be shocked if he's under 60 pounds. I think the joke may be on me. Funny thing is, I was worried he'd be smaller then I wanted. Don't get me wrong, I will love my Lil Henry Wadsworth no matter how big he is! It's exciting watching him grow, we can't believe how big he has already gotten.
So, I just was curious if anyone punched in a puppy weight they had and it came out to be pretty close. Here is the formula, which is pretty basic. My husband emailed it to me, so I am not sure where he got it. So, if it's totally wrong blame him! HA HA
(Weight Now / Weeks Old) X 52 = Expected Grown Weight.
Henry would be: 14 Pounds / 11 weeks = 1.27 x 52 = 66 LBS
Edited to add: After just a few repsonses this seems VERY inaccurate! :)

I found a chart Similar to the double weight at 16 weeks:
Double Puppies Birthweight at 16 weeks. Then add 1/2 of that weight.
so if the Puppy weighs 22# at 16 weeks. 22+ 22 + 11= 55#
I don't see how this can work for ANY age--dogs grow so fast when they are puppies then slow down considerably. Maybe there is an age limit at which this would no longer be accurate.I have heard the 4 month wt. X 2 formula and that seems pretty reliable.
I did a survey on DK a few months ago and asked people what their dogs weighed now and what they weighed at 10 weeks. The answers were ALL over the place! 15 pound pups weighed 40 pounds, 80 pounds and everything in between! Their genetics determines their growth pattern, so go by Henry's parents. There cold be a grandparent in there that comes out in the pup, but usually they are closest to parental weight. My puppy from a litter my other doodle had was the smallest in the litter right up to 12 weeks, then he just took off and is now so much taller than the others who were bigger--you never know.
