Today, Leia had her first vet appt since we got her :) She is 9 weeks old today! She had her first car ride and did really well. She is so spunky at home, but new situations are still a little scary for her. The important thing was it was all a positive experience for her, so YAY to socialization! She wraps her paws around my arm and puts her head on my shoulder like a baby. HAHA... She met three staff members at the vet who held her, and she was so sweet to them. Not a fan of nail clipping, but she didn't flinch for her shots. She weighed 9.2 lbs (breeder predicted 40 lbs full grown). She did have a parasite show up in her stool sample, but the vet said one dose of meds would take care of it. Her ears tend to get quite a lot of build-up - the vet said that was the Poodle in her, so she wants to keep a close eye on that. I've got to make sure to keep her ears clean each week, so I need to get on that. Overall, Leia is a healthy girl!

Thanks for the tip! I've been taking her out more often just in case... so far, so good.
Thank you :) I have one more who was at school and very disappointed he couldn't join us :)
Such sweeties!
Socialization is so important at this stage. You should try and take her out on all your "little" jaunts in the car. This only get scarier as time goes on. And that goes for everything, meeting people, other animals, kids etc. Expose them to as much as you can. You won't regret it!
Your Leia and your daughter are super sweet. Glad she's doing well. What do you use to clean Leia's ears. This is something we'll need to do with Baxter.
I am going to buy a solution for them this weekend... I need to see what's out there. When I had my Basset Hounds years ago, I made my own solution that worked really well. His ears were always dirty, and I had to clean them 2-3 times a week. Leia's ears, although not as long as a Basset Hound, tend to get really dirty easily. The vet said it was the poodle in her that may make her more inclined to have ear infections. She just gets a lot of build up.
Thanks, Jenny. I need to do the same, although we haven't had issues that I am aware of yet, I want to pre-empt them.
2 adorable cuties! Yes, by taking her on short jaunts in the car, will not only get use to riding in the car for things other than the Vet, but will also socialize her. Just don't subject her to places where other dogs have been....until she is through with her Vacs. Don't want to introduce her to Parvo!
