Our first week with Sister Bear.

It'll be a week this Saturday since we picked up Sister from the breeders. We had first pick out of a 11 puppies (F1 mini golden doodles) but we fell in love with little Burgundy girl since the first set of new born photos were shared with us. My partner and I have absolutely fallen in love with her and she has been such a good puppy. To date she has had only 3 accidents inside (all pee) and has been learning preliminary tricks (sit, come etc) very easily. She responds to her name and always comes running when you call her, I feel very lucky! Of course there are the puppy nips but we are trying our best to show her we don't like them. I even do a high pitched yip when she nips and she always acts very apologetic licking my hand profusely She has not slept through the night yet and usually cries from her crate every 3 hours to take a pee outside (I am so tired).

She only poops twice to three times a day and tends to graze her food instead of eating it all at once (which makes it difficult when you're in a rush!). But everyday she is eating more and more so that must mean she is getting more comfortable. She is also a chewer. Pillows, couches, corners, chair legs etc but we got her an assortment of toys and can usually divert her attention there instead of our possessions. I'm looking forward to getting a good nights sleep one day again and hoping her bladder gets tougher in the coming weeks.

I'm a teacher so starting tomorrow I have all summer off so I am looking forward to getting her into a routine and ready for the fall when she will be crated while we work. Anyways, I just wanted to share my first week story because while I was waiting for Sister I really enjoyed hearing of other peoples experiences when they first got their puppy. This community has been extremely helpful in getting ready for Sister. I'll attach some photos too.  : D

Sounds like you're in for a stellar summer! Good timing for some afternoon naps to make getting up with Sister Bear in the night more acceptable. What a great name you've given her.

Stefan ~ how is it going with your new little puppy.  I see you have not posted anything for a month.  I hope everything is going well, and puppyhood is proving to be a positive experience.  I saw the photo above here with her stretched out on the lawn and wanted to tell you - Sister is so darn cute.
