Jersey (14 weeks) pees every time someone pets her. Unless it is myself, husband or kids as soon as anyone touches her she pees. If my sister pets her, she pees and then if my mom pets her right after my sister she still pees. She will sit and stay with lots of tail wagging without the pee but as soon as she is on contact with the person it starts. Does anyone have any advice about this? Is it normal? Will she grow out of it? We try to get her outside before people come to go potty but even after potty she still does this. She never has accidents in the house other than this. I want to be able to take her to pet store and over to friends houses but I'm afraid she is going to be peeing everywhere.
I know how hard this is; Ozzy did this and I called it "HAPPY PEE" if he was sleeping on his back and I came downstairs in the morning he would just pee all over his own face as he wagged his tail so happy to see me. He would pee on everyone. I tried to everything to stop this nothing worked. Ozzy did out grow the "HAPPY PEE" good news is all dogs will out grow it. I never said anything to Ozzy when it was "HAPPY PEE" I acted as if nothing was happening. My vet said it is just a young bladder and they do get control of it, different than housebreaking when they pee in the house for no reason. Good luck
Taffy is 6months old and she still does this too. I was told by the time they ar 1yr they should outgrow it. Sometimes she still does it when my husband comes home from work. We have had many quick baths.
I have heard this is really common for young puppies. Our Cocker Spaniels did this all their lives and we made sure they were outside when they greated new people. They did not have a lot of exposure to new and different people and situations. I think with a doodle she will grow out of it, just expose her to new people and situations while she is young. Since you know she is going to do it, try to greet outside until she grows out of it. She is doing really well not to have accidents other wise. Our 16 week old doodle would pee everywhere if we let her. House training has not been easy.
