Hi everyone! So Murray, who is 15 weeks old has caught on quickly to the potty training bells that are hung from the door. However, once he rings them, and I get up to let him out, he starts going crazy playing with the bell, swatting away like a cat! Anyone deal with this? Any suggestions on how to prevent? Thank you!!! :)

Murray is VERY cute!
Lolli is 16 weeks and often plays CAT with hers, too. It drives me nuts.
We have figured out that if she lays down under the bells after she rings them, she needs to go out. If she has to go out BAD, she will grab her leash and bring it to us. She will ring them if her bowl is empty and then go over to her food dishes.
If she is just using them to get on my nerves, she often has the zoomies, too. If you figure it out, let me know.
Thank you! Lolli sounds soooo smart!!!!!!
As of now, i've suspended the bell use; i just couldn't take it anymore! lol.
I totally get that. Some days I want to chuck them out of the window and deep into the woods. Sigh...
I could just kiss that doodle nose of Murray's. I''m sure you are mistaken about him acting crazy! teehee
Haha!!! I'm telling you, I can't stay mad at him for more than 2 minutes....ok...maybe 5. Lol :) Thanks for your comment.
sophie does the same thing. 1 ring means she has to go out. if it is more like a symphony of bells I put a box in front of them for a few mins to discourage her from playing with them. she has other ways to signal though if i forget about the box and she ends up having to go out later.
We brought Meg home two weeks ago and immediatly put the bells up, it took two times of me showing her for her to get the idea. It took the third time on for her to show ME that these things are fun and she intends to ring the heck out of them whenever she feels like it. She really does use them for potty time but like to ring them again when she comes in (announcing to dad that she is back?), but really does love to go swat them...I think she associates them with (even more) attention. I have started putting them up if I just brought her back in and then trying to sneak them back down when she is out of the room. We have always trained our dogs with bells and she is the first ever to play with them. I think it is just because doodles love to have so much fun.
