Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have a 9month old male goldendoodle.  He weighs just about 75 lbs.  He has the weakest stomach ever but has done well on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream puppy.  He has always been a crazy eater...ready to eat the second you put it down.  Lately, he hasn't been into eating though he eventually will.  Especially in the morning, he no longer wants to go right for his food and today he wouldn't touch it.  I pulled it up and am hoping that by dinner he'll want to eat since this is the only day he will have skipped a meal.  I'm not super worried but wondering if anyone else's doodle went from being very into eating to not being that interested.

I also have a 9 month old male goldendoodle that has done the same.  We just got him 3 wks ago and were told he scarfs down his food like mad (I saw him do it when we were at the previous owners house) and then when we brought him home he just slowly eats his kibbles whenever he's hungry.  But no more chowing down (it's same brand he was on at other home) so he's been free choice for 3 wks now.  He will eat throughout the day, just at a slow pace here and there.  I too am curious if this is normal, just growing out of a phase maybe?

This happened with Dagny at about the same age. We finally figured out that she wasn't eating, because she wasn't hungry. She had finished her crazy growth spurt and didn't need as much food anymore. We cut back on her portion size and her normal eagerness to eat came back quickly.

Just curious has there been any dramatic change in temperature? Brontë barely ate anything for about a week in the Summer there, just because it was just too warm to eat. We gave her some wet food frozen and that helped :)

Although it sounds as though it could be the fact that his growth spurt might be slowing down?

Hopefully he'll pick up again soon xox
