Tomorrow Noodle becomes 6 months old. He is still chewing a lot though, I have been told 5-6 months is when a puppy loses his teeth. When do goldendoodle puppies lose their puppy teeth, and after losing them, will they continue to chew through everything vigorously? How many teeth are they supposed to lose?

Yeti lost his inveteeen 5-6 months, unfortunately at 10 months he is still a crazy chewer. He is complyelyndestructive to his toys and most bones, he chews our hands if he doesn't have a toy near by end will get pretty much any object he can (clothing towels his food dish anything plastic dvds shoes ... the list goes on). I've heard they grow out of it eventually however I've also heard poodles are very mouthy by nature so who knows. Perhaps it is something we didn't do with him right when he was smaller.
Rosie seems to have replaced most if not all of her puppy teeth already. She is 6 and half months. Funny thing is we never found them.

She has already ruined most of her Christmas toys with her dedication to chewing.

Turbo lost his baby teeth by 8 mo old. I found 3 of them and of course I saved them. He is not a chewer just a mouther. He does not kill his toys....Golden retrievers have soft mouths and so do poodles. So usually they don't have the kill instinct. There's always the exception to the rule...he he

Some puppies are more "chew-y" than others...doodles are a mix of two hunting dogs, but goldens and labs innately know to exercise their jaws at a young age to prepare for their "job" through chewing and picking things up. Our dog is a voracious chewer. If you have one of those, get lots of hard toys and just loads of exercise - we're big fans of the hard nylabones, elk antlers, kongs, and Westpaw products (the best!!). All can be found on Amazon. We also encouraged chewing with the appropriate items and discouraged others using training methods (our pup chewed up table legs, dressers, clothing, remotes, books, etc...ugh).

OMG.....Thank goodness Turbo is not like that. He will be a year old on Jan 6th and so far so good. WHEW

Paws crossed...that he never gets the urge to chew up my furniture.

It seems to me that goldendoodles come in two groups, laid back and exuberant. Some seem very easy going and others bounce off the walls. The same goes with chewing. Some are light chewers and others like my Roxy (year and a half standard size) are destructive chewers. Amount of exercise makes no difference, the exuberant ones are almost impossible to wear out and bounce back after a short rest. I just give Roxy beef bones and she has a Kong wobbler that is indestructible. along with a set of three linked rubber rings we purchased from Walmart for $10 that seems to be indestructible.Stuffed toys, including the expensive Kong Knots don't last long enough to justify the price.  We don't have children so we police the house and try not to leave anything low-lying like pens, socks, receipts and pieces of paper.
