Our 4 1/2 months old GD puppy has had her annals cleaned by the vet three times since she was 10 weeks old. She plays, eats, poops, peas all normal but the smell and scooting are back a week after the vet visit. Can this be normal? We've never had this with our other doodles. She eats Orejin Puppy with about a third to half cup pumpkin with her morning meal. She's still on three meals a day. Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated. I'm attaching a pix of our sweetie!

Man how I hate auto correct! anals-not annals! Pees! Not peas! Sorry! :(
I'm curious if maybe too much fiber, Karen will surely let us know ;-)

Is the vet draining them internally or externally?    My dog has to have hers done internally every 7-10 weeks.

Maybe she has an infection and needs antibiotics.  That is what happened to my dog one time.  She had no smell, didn't scoot -- I could just tell something was off.  They expressed her glands externally twice, but  there was still a problem so I saw a different vet.  She was almost at the point of rupture or abscess!  After meds, and seeing the vet a few times to ensure things were OK, she is fine.  Her glands, they tell me, are abnormally deep and long so externally expressing them does nothing for her.

She's had both internal and external draining/cleaning. No infection and once both we're full, next time only the left side and the last time the right one was very full and the left slightly full.

wow--what does the vet say about it?

They don't seem concerned since they aren't infected! Our main vet said that many times they outgrow it. It's something we've never had to deal with nor had we ever heard of this young of a puppy with this.
This is an issue I am also concerned about. My puppy (13 weeks) had to have hers expressed last week. Two different vet techs said they were "extremely full". They also didn't seem concerned about it. I thought it was very early in her growth and development to have such an issue.

Has she been checked for worms? Ours was having problems with smell and scooting and it turned out to be worms. Gross! But two pills later and she is better. Scooting gone, smell gone, and poop normal again. Just a thought.

We'll have this checked out for sure. It's just a fecal testing, isn't it? We'll be calling the vet today. Did you have her tested or were you able to see them in her stool?
