Pickle, 10 weeks old, is very restless in his crate at night.  He's sleeping in a plastic crate at the foot of my bed.  He started right next to me on the nightstand, but was restless there (and kept my husband awake all night).  There's nothing under him in the crate, the fleece pad that was in there ended up bunched into the corner and chewed on so I removed it.  When he shifts it makes a decent amount of noise.

My question is: does anyone have advice or possible explanation as to why he's so restless at night?  He really likes the crate and is fine going into it and staying there both during the day and at night.  But, he moves around a lot which makes lots of noise.  It's interfering with mine and my husband's sleep.  Would it be okay to put a 10 week pup in another room to sleep at night?  We're still taking him out 1-2 times to potty...so not sure how we know it was time if he was in another part of the house.

This has turned into a bit of a ramble...must be the sleep deprivation getting to my brain!

Yes, it is ok to put your puppy in another room to sleep. I do mine. She does wonderful.

Ear plugs do wonders!  I have my dog in a  crate that makes so much noise that I have bought ear plugs.  My sleep has improved 110%!

I have heard that some dogs in plastic crate, when switched to metal crate with liner, do better... I know it is a pain to buy but maybe you can borrow to try it out?

we have a metal crate with plastic tray.  I found that the cage liners were made with polyester and it was making our pup too hot! and he too tried to push it to the side of the cage.  I use cotton quilts for him to lay on as cotton breathes better and he seems to rest better too. However, he still moves around and adjusts all night long, which I hear. Our pup ends up sleeping on his back with a leg or two propped up thru the cage wire. it took a while to get used to the noise.
