Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I brought my first doodle on one week ago. She was only 8 weeks and has runny poo but I figured it was the baby food the breeder gave her for the long car ride. Well the runny poo just got worse and by Monday night I felt like all I was doing was sitting out in the cold or cleaning the carpet every 20-30 minutes. Tuesday morning in the day light I saw her poo was now pretty much liquid and now has blood in it. GREAT just my luck I get a sick dog. So I called the vet and they had a parvovirus freak out... Turns out not parvovirus and they did labs on her stool. All they could tell me was it must just be stress from a new home. So they send me home with canned prescription food and a medicine to give her. It seemed to be working the first day and a half and her poo went from water to soft serve ice cream looking. Last night I noticed it going back to watery this morning and blood returned.
So off to the vet we went this morning they gave me more food and changed her meds and added a powered for her food. Vet said if not improvement by morning to call back in...and if her poo is not at the consistancy to be able to pick it up by Monday then they will do more invasive testing.
So here I am $150.00 in vet bills already wight this puppy I have only hadw for a week this afternoon.

So the nights have been horrible because all the poor thing has done was pooped every 45-60 minutes at night and I'm about to loss it with the no sleep.
I made the mistake of letting her in bed with us but after changing the bed two times last night I'm done with that and going to be putting her in the cage and pray my daughter can sleep through it. My husband is out of town this weekend and he is the one who can't handle the dog crying. I. Told him this morning to get ear plugs! I have been putting her in her cage here and there during the day and she is doing really good and settles down fast so I hope it's an easier night. My only question is How do you know if they are just crying to get out or have to potty? I am also having to do all this with no treats because the vet said none for about a week after week get her stool under control. It's making this puppy thing so much harder than it has to be because she can't hold her poop and right now its not her fault and my poor carpet :(
I hope this new med works because I'm at my wits end. Having a puppy is a ton of work but when they are sick its just pure he'll.

so glad they found out what was wrong and put her on the way to a healthy puppy. Crappy breeder not to call you before you had to call her to let you know about the other puppies and to get yours checked out. I hate it when people don't do what I would have done:)  It wont be long and we will be reading about her running around the house and getting into trouble..hugs
