We went away this weekend up to the mountains with some friends. The kids and another dog were playing the whole time while we were there so I was watching Sophie pretty close because she is not used to kids hanging, pulling, and poking her. At some point sat night one of the kids said hey I think Sophie has blood on her tongue. I took a look and did see a little spot but nothing major, maybe the dogs played a little rough and it would stop. Well we got home tonight and I noticed a spot on the towel from the car ride home again nothing huge more drool then blood. I checked her mouth out again but with a flash light and felt around. I did see on the roof of her mouth in the back by her molars it was red and raw with some blood. Felt around for any splinters or something stuck but didn't find anything even blotted with a wet wash cloth. I am going to call the vet in the morning but of course its a holiday and they are not in but might have a voice mail they check or a number to call with ?s. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do in the mean time to clean it or get it to clot, should I try to irrigate it. It also doesn't smell other then fresh hamburger, like blood. She is also still drinking and eating normally.

Try ice cubes. May be from playing, depending on how old she is, could be teething too.. Hope she's okay!
How old is she? Finn is 5 months and losing his baby teeth and there has been blood and redness in his mouth. Your baby may be teething.

Kallie, 5 1/2 months,  had a whole lot of blood on her mouth and one of her toys this weekend. She had lost a front bottom fang. Then she lost the other and we didn't notice anything. (I was trying to save a tooth, and it was gone before I noticed) Mouths heal fast, so even if she bit something, it should be ok. I would check some more for swelling or sources of problem. Since you checked her mouth for punctures and debris and didn't find anything, and she's not having problems anymore, sounds good.

She is 14 months old so we are past the losing teeth phase. There was a lot less on her towel this morning when I got home from work and I irrigated it again. No voicemail ability for the vet so I am going to call when they open in the morning tomorrow on Tuesday.
