Marley's spay incision started to bleed about 3 days after surgery. Vet prescribed antibiotics and a "happy hat" for a week. After about a week it cleared up nicely and the incision appeared to be closed and she wasn't licking it (around me anyway)...now nearly 3 weeks from the surgery her incision is all pussy again (no blood yet)..I put back on the happy hat but won't be able to see the vet till Monday morning (tomorrow)...anyone else have experience with this??? should I clean it out before morning? :(
I bet the vet will put her on another round of antibiotics. Boo was just spayed the end of June and everything was going really well, despite her pulling the stitches out herself, three days after surgery. It closed up and healed nicely. Then last week, three boils form on the bottom of the incision. We put her on antibiotics. Two boils have dried up and gone away, but he said if they weren't gone by Monday, he'd want to drain them... I really don't want to have to do that. It sounds nasty and unpleasant.
Can you call your vet and leave a message for him/her to call you back today? Usually they have an emergency line or answering service who will page the doctor. It wouldn't hurt to see what he/she says to do...
These doodles worry me just as much as my kids do!
thanks for thinking of Marley...the incision is looking better again,,,bet said if it opens again she may be having a reaction to the stiches...seems weird since she seemed to be healed already once...keeping antibiotics going and fingers crossed! She isn't in any pain and the new flexible cones aren't that bad...
