How old should a puppy be before you leave them at a boarding facility? My husband and I have an opportunity to get away for a brief vacation, but we are concerned that our 13 week old Koko might regress in our training if we leave her.

This actually happened to us as well.  We had just gotten Enzo.  She was maybe 14-15 weeks, and an incredible opportunity came up for us to go to Hawaii and meet my husbands, bio brothers.   Our Vet is attached to a boarding facility and they had just been the ones to care for our aging Golden.  They took such great care of him, with so much  love and compassion, I was willing to take the chance with Enzo staying at the same facility.  One particular tech, took Enz under her wing and gave her that much more love and attention and even continued training for us!  I got pics each day....LOL...I was almost hurt, because Enzo seemed to be enjoying her stayvacation so much!!!!  Long story short....find a facility you trust, talk it over them and see if they are even willing to take on a young pup.  Enzo did great and hopefully Koko will too!

Check out Dogvacay.com, I like the home setting so much better than a kennel. We always take the dog, but find a daycare sitter for wherever we are going so we can do a few things that aren't pet-friendly.
