Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Its been a while since I have been on the group to check in! Whoops!

We are doing great! Lucy had her one year bday! Can you believe it?!?!?! WOW

We got her a bison bone and a special puppy cookie that looked like a cupcake.

My kiddos (4 and 6) loved celebrating! :)

Lucy is my love bug. She is my shadow and my girl. I love it. She adores our family and vice versa.

Our only training issue still is the jumping when new people come over. SHE LOVES PEOPLE TOO MUCH! Ha. Hopefully it will get better with age. She has improved.

Walks are much better. We are back to the easy walk harness. She REALLY hated anything on her face and would just freak. She is GREAT in the car. (Always has been)

We have found our breed for sure! Hubby and I just can't imagine having a different breed.

We go back and forth on the idea of a 2nd one. (Am I nuts?!)

Lucy sleeps in the bed now w us. She shares a pillow w one of us! HA. We crate her still when we leave the house. No need to give her that chance to be naughty... At night we just close the door JIC.

We still draw attention everywhere we go. We can't go on a walk or ride without SOMEONE stopping us. She's a show stopper!

Lucy sounds very much like our Zoey....LOVES people too much...only problem still have is jumping when new people come over...sleeps in bed with us but crate if we leave her in during the day...etc....very similar story here!  They even have the same eyes and face  :)  Anyway, we just got another puppy two weeks ago and the verdict is....that it is wonderful!  Yes, the puppy training, puppy teeth, and such get old....but it will be so worth it when done properly....and Zoey and our new little Tucker LOVE each other!  LOVE LOVE LOVE each other!  The major difference that I see is that you have two young kids...where we do not have kids yet....so we still had the energy to train the puppy  ;)  But Zoey does all the playing with the puppy  :)  We just watch!   Good luck and let us know if you decide to get a second!  Glad everything is going well!
Lucy is a little doll! Our GD is 8 months and very retriever-ish in looks but she has that same expression as Lucy. I agree that these dogs are wonderful. Ours is the same way with people coming over. It's crazy. The funny thing is that she's better when meeting people on walks, still excited but not so crazy with the jumping. Maybe that's because she's on the leash. Thanks for sharing!

She always looks sad even when she is happy :)

SO tempted for a pup.. Lucy was so easy to train! She potty trained herself, never chewed on anything but her toys etc. The only issue is jumping but that seems to be the doodle norm. I told DH last night maybe we will rethink the idea when she is 2.

I know what you mean about how easy they can be, although from some of the discussions here on DK this isn't always the case. Like Lucy, Murphy also chews on only her things, and never has touched anything else. We've gotten brave lately and left her alone in the house for a few hours. So far so good! I placed her toys in specific spots just to test the theory that she sleeps the whole time when we're gone and when we returned, no toys had been moved so it looks like that's what she does. Of course when we do get home she's SUPER energetic. :-)
