Anyone else have a loud puppy. Finn has the most shrill bark right now. He's very vocal, he barks and growls (in a playful way), he whines when he's not happy about something... which is pretty frequent right now. Heck, he's even loud when he's dreaming, running, twitching, barking, whining, growling, sucking!!! He also makes these grunting noises everytime he changes positions. He's a wild one for sure.

Jennifer....I have just the opposite...my "Coco" only barks when I'm scolding/reprimanding him! He lets me have it...hahaha And, when he can't follow me, every step I take (like shut a door behind me or leave him on the porch alone) he starts up.....he does NOT like bein' by himself, when I'm physically around...I belong to him, I guess.
Oh my gosh, YES... heaven forbid I leave the room and not take Finn with me. He has a tantrum anytime he's left alone.
This is good timing. Maizey (who is now almost 15 weeks) won't stop barking. All.the.time. Last night she barked all night. I took her out every few hours and she would go and come back in and go in her crate and then resume barking. She had been sleeping straight through the night. She barks whenever I try to leave her alone also. She has also discovered if she climbs in the bathtub and barks there's a fun louder echo that happens. Good times. "no bark" is not quite catching on yet.
She just had her latest puppy check up on Monday so I don't think there's anything medically going on. I think she just wants attention. All the time. Unfortunately, I just had to say goodbye to my cat earlier this week, quite unexpectedly and suddenly, which has been very, very hard to deal with. Am wondering if she senses that and is trying to cheer me up or maybe she misses the cat too. I kind of want her to just be quiet for a little while and let me deal and not try to eat me.
I am so sorry for the loss of your cat. It's never easy to say good bye and even worse when it is unexpected. It could be that Maizey is experiencing the loss of a pack member as well as your distress.
Thanks, Sue. I appreciate it. I think she is experiencing something, even though they were just beginning to get along. She will go to where Henry normally would hang around and then sniff and bark. She even climbed into the window sill where he always sat and laid there for a while. Which was both cute and sad at the same time.
ahhhhhhhhh, the bathtub....not that Coco barks in it, he SLEEPS in there, the past few weeks....he LOVES a bath and I think he's tryin' to shame/guilt me into givin' him another one, every time he's in there....duh!....no way....he's SO good bathing, so maybe it'll be a good bed at times! haha
Buddy is at 20 weeks and his bark is getting a bit less shrill. But he does a most annoying whine. It's not loud, but so sad, especially at 4 AM. He is barking less than he was and I have no idea why. I'm happy about it, but can't say there is anything I did to make it happen. Maybe he is now comfortable with everything around here.
Luna makes LOTS of weird noises... she doesn't really bark much (mostly when she's outside), but she is a VERY vocal dog.
She makes noises like this all the time (weird noises start at 0:37) - this was when she was a puppy of about 5.5 months.
I know I said Buddy was getting better, but now I realize he doesn't bark at me, but he does bark at his older dog sister. I heard him barking in the back yard and went to look. Sky (older dog) was laying in the yard chewing on her bone and Buddy was standing in front of her barking and barking. I guess I'm lucky to have another dog for hm to harass.
I did teach him to bark on command. I use the word "What" as the signal to bark. If he starts barking at me, I ask "What", when he speaks, I praise him with, thank you, good dog. If he does it more, I say enough in a firm voice. It usually works.
What's funny is that I have been trying to teach Sky to speak on command for years and she would never do it. When I started trying to Buddy, she immediately got it and began to speak.
LOL, I have a four month old Aussie Doodle Georgia who is exactly the same! I have a four year old, Griffon, who didn't do this, but she grunts in her sleep and when she rolls over, and barks so shrilly it's almost painful! Did Finn grow out of it?
