She will be seven weeks tomorrow and I do not want my kids taking her out without a collar and a leash.  We bought her a half inch wide collar and I know it takes time, but it is driving her insane.

Should we take it on and off, leave it for a longer period each day, or just swallow the pill and get it over with all at once?

Leave it on at night in her crate?

Is one recommended over another in terms of her thick furry cuteness for comfort and to prevent matting under the collar?

I can't stand it!  She is so stinking cuuuuute!

Never leave a collar on in the crate..dogs can get caught and be choked. I would put it on when she is going out and have some treats to distract her. Yes she is so stinking cute lol ;-)

Ollie hated his too. He would roll around and paw at it and rub his face on the carpet (silly pups), it only took a few days for him to get over it. The leash took a little longer...it was just too hard not to want to play tug with.

I put Jacki's collar on right when we got her (8 wks) and she is now 9 mo. I only remove it for bath time. She didn't have a problem with it at all. Guess it depends on the dog...they are all so different.

Oddly enough, she only scratches at it when someone is looking.  Hmmm....

:) Love it.

All puppies hate their collars. I remember when Monty was little and I put his lightweight collar on, he was limping. Auggie is still getting used to his collar. I put it on few times during the day, and then take it off, just so that he can get used to it. I also use a slip leash (just a simple nylon leash with a ring at the end where I loop the other end so that it creates a collar) to take him out. Never leave a collar on when she is in the crate. Monty is over 2 years old and we use the collar only if we are going somewhere. Around the house and in the backyard, the collar is off. It's just way too easy for the tags to get caught in the AC vents and anywhere else. The puppy will get used to the collar, it's a process just like anything else with puppies, right?
